Associated Press Sports Editors judges honor Legacy Hockey's staff in the Event Coverage category

The Legacy Hockey staff recently won a national sports journalism award as judged by the Associated Press Sports Editors.

Legacy Hockey was honored in the Event Coverage category for its reporting, writing and photography during the 2022 Minnesota boys’ state hockey tournament.

The category limits coverage to a 24-hour period, and Legacy Hockey’s contest entry included game stories, recaps and photos from the 2022 Class 2A and Class 1A championship games won by Andover and Hermantown.

Results for the 2022 contest that includes entries from newspapers and other media outlets from across the nation were announced last week during the APSE's annual winter meeting in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

This was the first year Legacy Hockey, which was approved as an APSE member in 2022, has entered the annual contest. More than 140 news organizations submitted entries.

More than 400 interviews
