Hockey Night: Ranallo, Rogers roll past Wayzata

Feb. 16: Royals hang on to beat Trojans; Minnetonka survives scare from Eden Prairie; Andover routs Centennial

Rogers 3, Wayzata 1

ROGERS - Senior forward Sam Ranallo scored two goals and added an assist as Rogers defeated Wayzata 3-1 on Thursday at Rogers Ice Arena.

Ranallo's first goal came with 5:42 left in the first. He and Nolen Geerdes assisted on Drew Krekelberg's power-play goal in the second for No. 10-2A Rogers (15-6-3).

Freshman Jacob Kvasnicka scored with 5:24 left in the third for No. 8-2A Wayzata (16-5-2) but Ranallo added his second goal with 1:28 remaining to secure the win.

Rogers' Cade Chapman stopped 32 of 33 shots.

Minnetonka 4, Eden Prairie 3

MINNETONKA - Hagen Burrows scored 60 seconds into the third period to lift Minnetonka to a 4-3 win over Eden Prairie in at the Pagel Activity Center.

No. 1-2A Minnetonka (22-2-0) has won 13-straight games.

No. 20-2A Eden Prairie (11-12-1) used a power-play goal from John Kleis to take a 1-0 lead. The Skippers' Javon Moore tie the score at 1-1 and Mason Moe scored on a power play for Eden Prairie to put the Eagles ahead 2-1.

Moore's second goal gave Minnetonka its first lead with 2:18 remaining in the second. However, Eden Prairie's Cole Saterdalen tied the game with 41 seconds left in the second.

Gavin Garry had two assists for the Skippers.

Andover 7, Centennial 0

CIRCLE PINES - Cooper Conway scored three power-play goals as Andover defeated Centennial 7-0 at Centennial Sports Arena.

No. 5-2A Andover (18-6-1) scored four power-play goals and two while shorthanded as the Huskies won for the 11th time in 12 games. Beau Altman made 24 saves for Andover.

The teams combined for 15 penalties with Centennial (14-10-1) committing eight.

White Bear Lake 5, Rosemount 1

ROSEMOUNT - White Bear Lake scored two goals 39 seconds apart in the first period en route to a 5-1 win over Rosemount at Rosemount Ice Arena.

Devin Willett scored with 11:44 left in the first and Joe Belisle scored the first of his two goals 39 seconds later for No. 12-2A White Bear Lake (18-5-0). 

Jake Toll scored on the power play in the third for No. 15-2A Rosemount (12-11-1), denying White Bear Lake the shutout.

Aiden Welch led White Bear Lake with three assists. Leo Gabriel made 27 saves for the Bears.

Roseau 7, East Grand Forks 4

EAST GRAND FORKS - Noah Urness scored three goals in the first period as Roseau defeated East Grand Forks 7-4 at the East Grand Forks Civic Arena.

Urness' goals were part of a six-goal run for Roseau (15-9-1).

Chase Moe scored in the second No. 5-1A East Grand Forks (14-11-0), which also got goals from Jace Fore, Hunter Varnson and Sam Schumacher.

St. Cloud Cathedral 3, Monticello 2

ST. CLOUD - Joey Gillespie's second goal of the game came with 2:37 left in regulation as St. Cloud Cathedral defeated Monticello 3-2 at the Municipal Athletic Complex.

No. 12-1A St. Cloud Cathedral (13-12-0) took a 2-0 lead after goals by John Hirschfeld and Gillespie. No. 20-1A Monticello (15-9-1) answered with two goals in the second.

Monticello's Jake Larson scored on a power play and teammate Gunnar Simon tied the game with 5:06 left in the second.

Andrew Dwinnell led St. Cloud Cathedral with three assists.

Prairie Centre 6, Breckenridge/Wahpeton 3

WAHPETON, N.D. - Senior forward Eli Fletcher scored four goals to lead Prairie Centre to a 6-3 victory over Breckenridge/Wahpeton at Stern Sports Arena.

Eli Fletcher's four goals gives him 156 goals in his career, good for seventh on the state's all-time list. He passed Luverne's Jaxon Nelson, who amassed 155 goals from 2013-16.

Fletcher scored twice in the second period as Prairie Centre (6-18-0) took a 4-0 lead. His fourth goal came midway through the third period and put the North Stars ahead 5-2.

Trey Vogelbacher scored all three goals for Breckenridge-Wahpeton (1-22-0).

Dodge County 3, Winona 1

WINONA - Nels Carstensen's goal with 6:04 left in the first period stood as the game winner as Dodge County defeated Winona 3-1 at Bud King Ice Arena.

Carstensen's goal gave Dodge County (15-9-0) a 2-1 lead. Brett Ludvigsen scored earlier in the period for the Wildcats while Teis Larsen scored for Winona (9-12-2).

Gryffon Funke added an insurance goal via the power play in the second. The junior forward had a goal and an assist as he passed the 100-point mark for his career.

Northern Lakes 1, Detroit Lakes 0 (OT)

BREEZY POINT - Sophomore forward Finnegan Fogarty scored on a power play 18 seconds into overtime as Northern Lakes upended Detroit Lakes 1-0 at Breezy Point Ice Arena. 

Fogerty, stationed to the right of the goal, poked in a loose puck in the crease area to give the Lightning (11-14-0) the upset victory in their final regular season game. The goal was Fogarty's 10th of the season.

Senior Ethan Kunz stopped 19 shots for the shutout, his first of the season.

Kale Witt made 18 saves for No. 10-1A Detroit Lakes (16-7-1), which suffered its second straight loss.
