WADENA - State scoring leader Tyler Hennen of Kittson Central scored six goals and had two assists as the Bearcats skated to an 8-8 overtime tie on Friday with Wadena-Deer Creek at the Wadena Ice Arena.
Hennen, a senior forward, had a hat trick by the end of the first period, scored two more goals in the second and added his sixth goal in the opening minute of the third to put Kittson Central (9-8-0) ahead 8-5. His goals in the final minute of the second period and opening minute of the third both came shorthanded.
Wadena-Deer Creek (11-4-0) rallied in the third with two goals from Evan Lunde and another from Connor Davis. Lunde's second goal came with 39 seconds left in regulation to tie it and force overtime.
Cole Woods had a hat trick for the Wolverines.
Hennen's eight points gives him a state-best 85 this season. He is also the state leader in goals with 47. Hennen, who started his varsity career as an eighth grader, has 284 career points, tied for sixth on the state's all-time scoring list with Joey Benik of St. Francis (2006-10).
The game was the second in the state to finish in an 8-8 overtime tie in a week. Holy Angels and Cloquet/Esko/Carlton skated to an 8-8 tie on Jan. 20 in Cloquet.
Hennen became the second player this season to score six-goals in a single game, joining Waseca's Kyle Ahlschlager, who accomplished the feat in a 7-0 win over Red Wing on Jan. 21.
Eight players have scored five or more goals in a single game this season.

MAPLE GROVE - Maple Grove erupted for seven second-period goals as the Crimson defeated Grand Rapids 8-1 at the Maple Grove Community Center.
Lucas Bosch scored three power-play goals in the second for No. 4-2A Maple Grove (15-3-1). Finn Brink added a goal and four assists for the Crimson, who are 13-1-1 in their last 15 games.
Hayden Davis scored for Grand Rapids (11-8-1).

CLOQUET - Lucas Rauner scored 2:50 into overtime to lead Cloquet/Ekso/Carlton over Bemidji 3-2 at the Cloquet Area Recreation Center.
Rauner's goal capped a three-goal flurry for the C/E/C, which trailed 2-0 heading into the third.
Bemidji (10-8-0) got a goal in the first period from Wyatt Mattfield and one in the second from Max Fankhanel.
Cloquet/Esko/Carlton (10-6-1) started its comeback when Patrick Dunaiski scored 1:06 into the third. He later scored with 8:34 left in regulation to tie it at 2-2.
Tate Metcalf stopped 36 shots for Bemidji while Logan Sickmann recorded 19 saves for Cloquet/Esko/Carlton.

COLERAINE - Thief River Falls scored five times in the first 7:10 as it defeated Greenway 9-2 at at Hodgins-Berardo Arena.
No. 16-1A Thief River Falls (9-9-1), which has won four of its last five games, got on the scoreboard when Jaxon Hams scored 3:11 into the first. Max Arlt added a goal 26 seconds later and the scoring explosion was underway.
Tysen Loeffler and Braydin Lund each scored three goals for the Prowlers. Lund and Arlt each had three assists while Loeffler, Jace Erickson and Owen Bushy each added two.
Carter Cline had a goal and an assist for Greenway (7-9-0).

SAUK CENTRE - Jordan Gorans' empty net goal with 1:16 remaining proved to be the winner as Willmar held on to beat Prairie Centre 7-6 at the Sauk Centre Civic Arena despite a four-goal effort from North Stars senior Eli Fletcher.
Fletcher scored his fourth goal with 32 seconds remaining to pull Prairie Centre back within a goal. The North Stars (5-11-0) led 5-4 early in the third on a goal by Fletcher.
Cullen Gregory and Bobby Poe also scored in the third for Willmar (6-10-0).
Fletcher's four goals gives him 26 this season and 145 in his career, good for a ninth-place tie on the state career goal-scoring list with John Pohl of Red Wing (1994-98).

BURNSVILLE - Jackson Vogel's short-handed goal with 6:28 to play stood up as the game-winning goal as Shakopee defeated Apple Valley/Burnsville 6-3 at the Burnsville Ice Center.
Vogel, who finished with two goals and an assist, gave No. 18-2A Shakopee (12-5-0) a 4-2 lead. Apple Valley/Burnsville (7-12-0) answered with a power-play goal by Sam Arendt with 2:47 to play but the Sabers' Linus Toward scored nine seconds later. Vogel then scored an insurance goal with 2:16 remaining.
Cooper Simpson added two goals and two assists for Shakopee.
The teams combined for 17 penalties.

BAGLEY - Mason Musel's first-period goal held up as the winner as Duluth Marshall beat Bagley/Fosston 3-1 at the Bagley Youth Hockey Arena.
Duluth Marshall's Kai Melton and Bagley/Fosston's Breckin Levin traded goals during the middle of the first period, and Musel's goal put the Hilltoppers (6-12-0) ahead 2-1 late in the opening period. Levin's goal was his 28th of the season, sixth most in the state at the start of the evening.
Braydon Hannula scored midway through the third to give Duluth Marshall its two-goal cushion.
Both goaltenders had busy nights: Sam Pollard made 30 stops for the Flyers while Kassandra Fontaine had 35 saves for Bagley/Fosston (11-8-0).

BRAINERD - Senior goaltender Ben Swanson made 41 saves as Fergus Falls built a three-goal lead then held on to beat Brainerd 3-2 at the Essential Health Sports Center.
Brayden Nelson, Jack Welde and Leighton Buckmeier scored in span of 5:30 early in the second period as the No. 10-1A Otters (9-7-1) took a 3-0 lead.
John Finnegan scored late in the second period and Ryan Kennedy scored 6:03 into the third for Brainerd (6-10-2).
Swanson stopped 16 of 17 shots in the final period.
