HERMANTOWN - Duluth Marshall scored three unanswered goals in the second half of the third period, including two from Bennett Scissons in the final five minutes, as it rallied to forge a 5-5 tie with Hermantown in a showdown of unbeatens on Tuesday night at the Hermantown Ice Arena.
No. 1-1A Hermantown (3-0-2) took a 5-2 lead midway through the third period and, with star goaltender Bryce Francisco in net, appeared to have the game under control.
Sam Berry lit the fuse on Duluth Marshall's comeback, scoring midway through the third period to pull the Hilltoppers (5-0-1) to within 5-3.
Scissons' two goals give him six on the season, tied for the team lead. Berry also scored twice for Duluth Marshall.
Kyler Berg scored twice for Hermantown and Bode Madill had three assists.
Francisco finished with 39 saves; Duluth Marshall's Wyatt Brown had 38.
SHAKOPEE - Bennett Wilmer stopped 32 shots and Will Elmquist and Jack Peterson scored third-period goals as Eden Prairie stunned a top-10 Class 2A team for the second time in as many games, beating Shakopee 2-0 at the Shakopee Ice Arena.
Elmquist score 1:35 into the final period on an assist from Riley Wolkove. Peterson clinched the victory over No. 6-2A Sabers (4-2-0) with a length-of-the-ice shot into an empty net. Peterson, a junior, leads Eden Prairie with five goals.
No. 20-2A Eden Prairie knocked off No. 9-2A Maple Grove 5-4 in overtime on Saturday. The Eagles had allowed four-or-more goals in all four of their previous games before Wilmer's shutout on Tuesday.
Niklas Huson made 10 stops for the Shakopee.
LONG LAKE - Jackson Knight's goal with 1:04 left in overtime lifted Orono past Breck 4-3 at Orono Ice Arena in game with multiple lead changes in the second period, when five goals were scored.
Knight led a 3-on-1 rush into the Breck zone, then fired over a sliding Mustangs defender into the upper right corner of the goal, popping the water bottle on top into the air.
Knight, a senior forward, leads the Spartans with nine goals, tied for 10th most in the state, and 14 points.
Breck led 2-0 on Riley Dovenberg's goal 2:50 into the second period. Orono scored the next three goals, one each from Ryan De Lange, Rory Kvern and Knight.
Eli Milinkovich's goal with 1:42 left in the second tied the score at 3-3.
ANOKA - Ryder Siedow scored three goals, all in the second period, as Forest Lake remained unbeaten with an 8-1 victory over Anoka at the Anoka Ice Arena.
Siedow, a senior forward, leads the Rangers in goals with 8, assists with 8 and points with 16. He scored all three of his goals on Tuesday in the second period, when he helped turn a 3-0 Forest Lake lead into a 7-1 advantage heading into the third.
Forest Lake (5-0-0) has scored six-or-more goals in three of its victories. It has allowed more than two goals just once.
Luca Gannucci scored the lone goal for Anoka (1-4-0) in the second period. Tornadoes goaltender Cohen Kuehne was peppered 43 shots. Forest Lake's Gage Winkler made 16 saves.
CHASKA - Samuel Swanson's goal with 6.9 seconds left boosted Chaska to a 3-2 victory over Osseo at the Chaska Community Center in a game that seemed certain to be decided in overtime.
Swanson, a senior forward, kept jamming at a loose puck near the crease until it finally went in, touching off a wild celebration with his teammates.
Henry Passehl scored for Osseo (1-5-0) with 5:49 remaining to tie the score at 2-2.
Frank Petz was outstanding in goal for Chaska (2-3-1), making 47 saves. Conner Albers made 15 stops for the Orioles.
GRAND RAPIDS - Tate Swanson scored twice as No. 2-1A Hibbing/Chisholm rallied from a two-goal first-period deficit to defeat Grand Rapids 5-2 at Yanmar Arena.
Swanson scored his first goal 84 seconds into the second period to start the Bluejackets' comeback. Ethan Sundvall scored 16 seconds later to tie the game. Blake Riccio gave Hibbing/Chisholm (6-1-0) its first lead with 11:33 remaining in the second. Cole Swanson scored a power-play goal with 7:45 left to make it 4-1 after two periods.
Tate Swanson's empty-net goal with 52 seconds left in regulation provided the final margin.
Jameson Duell and Nate Garski scored the first-period goals for Grand Rapids (2-3-1).
ANDOVER - Andover scored three-straight goals as the No. 19-2A Huskies recorded their first win of the season with a 4-2 triumph over Rock Ridge at the Andover Community Center.
Rock Ridge's Caz Carlson opened the scoring with a power-play goal midway through the first before the Huskies (1-3-2) answered with Jack Rykkeli's power-play goal with 6:29 left in the period.
Wyatt Jonassen made 28 saves for Rock Ridge (3-5-0).
Brody Peterson scored the lone goal in the second as the Huskies led 2-1.
Camden Langfeld scored on the power play as Andover took a 3-1 lead. Rock Ridge's Landon Mathison scored a power-play goal with 1:08 to play but Peterson netted his second goal of the night with 42 seconds left to ice it. Langfeld was credited with three assists.
VADNAIS HEIGHTS - Wyatt Hauer scored with 10 seconds remaining as Roseville upset White Bear Lake 5-4 at the TCO Sports Garden.
Roseville (4-2-0) and the Bears were tied 2-2 after the first. Liam Maloy scored both goals for No. 14-2A White Bear Lake (3-2-1). Garrett Hites and Grant Jakaboski scored for Roseville.
Hites added two goals in the second while Rian Marquardt and Magnus Benz answered for White Bear Lake as the teams were tied 4-4 after two periods.
Roseville's Henri Hammes-Dahlke made 41 saves.
