SHAKOPEE - Matyas Kratochvil, a senior foreign exchange student from Czechia, scored with 4:57 left in the third to lift Shakopee to a 2-1 victory over Rosemount at Shakopee Ice Arena in a battle of South Suburban Conference powers.
Connor Schubert opened the scoring for No. 13-2A Rosemount (4-2-0) early in the second period. Cooper Siegert tied it at 1-1 for No. 9-2A Shakopee (3-1-0) less than 4 minutes later.
On the winning play, Kratochvil stole the puck from a Rosemount defender behind the net, wheeled to the right face-off dot and whipped a rising shot into the upper right corner of the net. The goal was Kratochvil's first of the season to go with four assists.
Niklas Hudson made 16 saves for Shakopee. Sam Clements stopped 18 shots for Rosemount.
Shakopee won the South Suburban Conference championship last season with a 14-0-0 league record. Rosemount went 14-2-0 in league play to finish second.
DULUTH - Braydon Hannula scored early in the third period to lift Duluth Marshall to a 2-1 victory over Gentry Academy at Mars Lakeview Arena.
The victory extended the Hilltoppers' torrid start to the season, as they improved to 4-0-0.
Bennett Scissons of Duluth Marshall scored a power-play goal 1:08 into the second period to open the scoring. Everett Nelson answered for Gentry Academy less than 5 minutes later.
Hannula, a junior, broke the 1-1 tie with this goal 2:07 into the third. He shares the team lead with eight points.
Gentry Academy (3-3-0) outshot the Hilltoppers 35-28.
BLAINE - Brody Peterson scored with 1:58 left in regulation as Andover rallied from a three-goal deficit to forge a 4-4 overtime tie with Blaine at Fogerty Arena.
Camden Langeld and Casey Rodgers also scored in the third, which began with No. 15-2A Blaine (4-0-1) leading 3-1. The Bengals went ahead 3-0 on Tanner Ferdig's goal with 4:03 left in the second period.
No. 18-2A Andover (0-3-2), scored four of the final five goals. Andover outshot Blaine 9-4 in the extra period.
MONTICELLO - Chisago Lakes scored the game's first three goals and Monticello the final three goals as the teams skated to a 3-3 tie as the two ranked teams squared off at the Moose Sherritt Ice Arena.
Clyde Middleton's goal with 1:05 left in regulation tied it for the No. 12-1A Moose (1-1-2), who also got goals from Jack Sager and Luke Dunn.
Zach Carlson, Colton Horak and Austin Slettom scored for No. 13-1A Chisago Lakes (3-1-2).
PRIOR LAKE - Jacob Thomas scored 2:48 into overtime as Prior Lake defeated Eagan 2-1 in a South Suburban Conference showdown at the Dakotah! Ice Center.
The Lakers (2-0-1) outshot Eagan, 29-15. Lukas Grabow gave Prior Lake a 1-0 lead with 5:48 left in the second.
Charlie Forester scored a third-period, power-play goal for Eagan (1-2-1).
STILLWATER - Minnetonka scored three power-play goals as it blanked Stillwater 6-0 in a battle of top-four ranked teams at the St. Croix Valley Recreation Center.
No. 3-2A Minnetonka (4-0-1) outshot No. 4-2A Stillwater (4-1-0), 41-21.
A power-play goal by Ethan Sturgis gave the Skippers a 1-0 with 3:50 left in the first. Cash Hardie scored with 58 seconds remaining in the second to make it 2-0.
Tavin Dobchuk's power-play goal gave Minnetonka a 3-0 lead 4:40 into the third. Liam Schultz, Caden Lindsay and Gabe Lindholm recorded the other three goals.
EDEN PRAIRIE - Chanhassen opened the game with a 2-0 lead and didn't look back in its 5-2 win over Eden Prairie at the Eden Prairie Community Center.
The Storm (1-2-1) had five players record goals. Chanhassen pulled away with two empty-net goals in the final 38 seconds.
Jack Peterson scored twice in the second for Eden Prairie (0-2-1).
ALBERT LEA - Casey Ulve's power-play goal with 1 minute left capped a four-goal outburst by Albert Lea as the Tigers rallied to defeat Rochester Mayo 4-3 at Albert Lea City Arena.
Zaden Brua started the third-period scoring for Albert Lea (2-1-0) with his goal with 10:37 remaining. Drake Sternhagen scored 67 seconds later for the Tigers and Brua tied the contest with 3:32 left, setting the stage for Ulve's game-winner. Brua assisted on Ulve's goal while Ulve also was credited with two assists.
Mayo (1-3-0) led 3-0 after two periods. Noah Hagen's power-play goal with 2:41 left in the second gave the Spartans their three-goal lead.
