Henry Lechner of Holy Angels, Mason Jenson of Rogers, Mason Kraft of Moorhead, Cooper Simpson of Shakopee and John Hirschfeld of St. Cloud Cathedral, the state’s top five scorers in that order, are among the 10 Mr. Hockey finalists as announced by Minnesota All Sports Alliance.
Jackson Rudh of St. Thomas Academy, Boden Sampair of Hill-Murray and Brent Solomon of Champlin Park are the other three forwards among the finalists. Nolen Geerdes of Rogers and Josh Toll of Rosemount are the two defensemen on the list.
The Mr. Hockey Award is given annually to the outstanding senior player in the state. The winner is selected by a panel of NHL scouts, junior scouts and coaches and selected media members from around the state.
Leo Gabriel of White Bear Lake, Luke Marsalek of Holy Angels and Charlie Stenehjem of Moorhead were announced as the three finalists for the Frank Brimsek Award that goes to the state’s top senior goaltender.
Minnneapolis coach Joe Dziedzic was announced as the recipient of the eighth annual Mr. Hockey Ambassador Award that goes to, “an influential leader dedicated to the growth and development of hockey in Minnesota.”
The 41st Mr. Hockey award banquet is set for noon on March 9 at the Saint Paul RiverCentre.
