STILLWATER - Brody Dustin and Luke Myers scored third-period goals as Stillwater handed St. Thomas Academy, the No. 2-ranked team in Class 2A, just its third loss this season with a 4-2 triumph Tuesday at the St. Croix Recreation Center.
Dustin scored his second goal of the game 37 seconds into the third period, putting No. 9-2A Stillwater (15-4-0) ahead 3-2. Luke Myers scored an insurance goal with 6:23 remaining.
Cole Braunshausen and Nico Russ scored for St. Thomas Academy (17-3-0), which had its six-game win streak snapped. The Cadets previous two losses both were to Moorhead, the No. 1-ranked team in Class 2A.
Dustin's two goals give him a team-best 23 on the season.
VICTORIA - Bryce Wiitala scored the final three goals for Holy Family as it rallied to beat Delano 6-4 in a matchup of Wright County Conference rivals that was tied three times before the Fire pulled away.
Wiitala put No. 17-2A Holy Family (14-6-0) ahead 4-3 early in the second period, added a goal to with 4:30 left in the second to put the Fire ahead 5-4 and completed his hat trick with the lone goal of the third period.
Brody Geislinger and Daniel Halonen scored early in the first period to put No. 10-1A Delano (9-10-0) ahead 2-0.
Holy Family beat Delano 3-2 on Jan. 4 at Delano Area Sports Arena.
Wiitala's three goals give him a team-best 25.
WINONA - Damon Noland stopped 55 shots, including eight in the overtime period, as Winona forged a surprising 3-3 tie with Big 9 Conference leader Northfield at Bud King Ice Arena.
Winona's Jacob Lange and Northfield's Will Cashin exchanged third-period goals, and Cashin's tied it at 3-3 with 3:33 left.
Cashin had two goals for No. 7-1A Northfield (14-3-2), the conference leader with a 9-0-1 record. Unranked Winona (9-6-1) had lost its previous two games and has a 3-4-1 Big 9 record.
LAKEVILLE - Senior forward Cooper Simpson scored five goals, including three in the second period, as Shakopee continued its late-season surge with a 7-3 triumph over South Suburban Conference rival Lakeville South at Hasse Arena.
The win was the ninth in the last 10 games for No. 12-2A Shakopee (15-5-1), which scored three unanswered goals in the third period to cruise to the victory.
Carter Ernst, Will Kortan and Tristan Lawrence scored second-period goals for Lakeville South (10-9-0).
LITTLE FALLS - John Hirschfeld scored with 2:27 left in overtime as St. Cloud Cathedral beat Little Falls 3-2 at Exchange Arena, giving the defending state Class 1A champion Crusaders a split of the teams' season series.
Hirschfeld also scored a first-period goal to open the scoring, and teammate Joey Gillespie put No. 5-1A Cathedral (11-7-2) ahead 2-1.
Luke Avery's power-play goal with 4:37 left pulled Little Falls into a 2-2 tie.
Little Falls beat the Crusaders 3-1 on Jan. 7 in St. Cloud.
VIRGINIA - Levi Flatley's goal midway through the third period held up as the game winner as No. 19-2A Rock Ridge recorded a 3-1 win over Hibbing/Chisholm in a battle of ranked teams at Iron Trail Motors Event Center.
Caz Carlson scored on the power play in the second to give the Wolverines (17-3-1) at 1-0 lead but Cole Swanson's power-play goal in the early minutes of the third period evened the score for No. 4-1A Hibbing/Chisholm (12-9-0)
Zac Norberg added an insurance goal with 3:27 remaining for Rock Ridge, which saw Wyatt Jonassen make 26 saves.
EAST GRAND FORKS - Moorhead, the state's top-ranked team, opened the game with three-straight goals and never looked back in a 6-3 win over East Grand Forks at East Grand Forks Civic Center.
The Spuds, 20-1-0, led 3-0 after goals by Tyden Bergeson, Brandon Mickelson and Brooks Cullen in the first half of the first period. No. 8-1A East Grand Forks (9-10-1) answered with goals by Jace Panzer and Jace Van Eps but Cullen's second goal of the period pushed the lead to 4-2.
After the Green Wave scored a power-play goal in the second, Moorhead put the clamps on in the third and got goals by Bergeson and Carver Hasbargen to clinch the win. Moorhead allowed only one shot on goal in the third.
Mason Kraft recorded three assists for the Spuds.
FARMINGTON - Sophomore defenseman Austin Dwyer's second goal of the game came with 1:52 left in overtime as Eastview downed Farmington 2-1 at Schmitz-Maki Arena.
Eastview (9-10-1) got 36 saves from Zach Wakefield.
Dwyer, who entered the contest having scored only two goals this season, gave Eastview a 1-0 lead 3:37 into the contest.
After a scoreless second, Jacob Miller tied the game 1:55 into the second. Sam Wooten, Eastview's leading scorer, recorded two assists.
Chris Bade stopped 36 shots for Farmington (7-11-1).
