SILVER BAY - Ayden Althaus scored three goals and Dax Krech stopped 42 shots as North Shore upended International Falls 4-1 at Rukavina Arena on Monday in one of six games played statewide.
Althaus, a senior forward, scored the lone goal of the first and, after a scoreless second, scored back-to-back goals in the third to put the Storm (7-12-0) ahead 3-1. The three goals give Althaus a team-best 19.
Krech, a freshman, made 17 of his saves in the final period as International Falls outshot North Shore, 43-17. The loss drops the Broncos to 12-6-0 and gives the Storm the edge, for now, in the seeding for the upcoming Section 7A playoffs.
PARK RAPIDS - Parker Kelly made 18 saves for the shutout and Jay Reese had two goals and an assist as Crookston overpowered Park Rapids 10-0 at the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena.
Crookston (11-7-1) led 3-0 after the first period before cranking up the offense in the second, as Reese scored two of the Pirates' five goals.
Nine players scored goals for Crookston.
Rylie Wesa made 32 saves for Park Rapids (6-13-0).
BLOOMINGTON - Kaden Herman scored twice and Brody Butler stopped 21 of 22 shots as Waconia cruised past Bloomington Jefferson 4-1 in a Metro West Conference matchup at the Bloomington Ice Garden.
Herman and Drew Puchner scored third period goals for Waconia (11-8-0), which led 2-1 after the first.
Mason Van Brunt scored the lone goal for Bloomington Jefferson (8-9-0).
