HERMANTOWN - Junior Cal Carlson scored 5:37 into overtime to give Rock Ridge a 1-0 victory over Hermantown on Thursday at Hermantown Ice Arena.
Carlson grabbed a loose puck during a goalmouth scramble and shoveled it into a mostly open net. Carlson's goal, his 11th of the season, ended the a duel between Hermantown goaltender Bryce Francisco (24 saves) and Rock Ridge goaltender Wyatt Jonassen (29 saves).
The shutout was the first of the season for Jonassen, a junior with a 6-0-1 record. Francisco ranks second in the state with a .951 save percentage and third with a 1.46 goals-against average.
The No. 20-2A Wolverines improved to 9-3-1 with the victory. No. 1-1A Hermantown dropped to 6-4-2.
COTTAGE GROVE - John King's shorthanded goal 4:31 into overtime lifted Cretin-Derham Hall past East Ridge 4-3 at Cottage Grove Ice Arena.
No. 6-2A Cretin-Derham Hall (9-2-1) led 2-0 after the first period. East Ridge (4-6-0) led 3-2 after the second. Cretin-Derham Hall's Max Thompson scored the lone goal of the third period, setting up the overtime session.
Thompson and Marcus Matyas each had a goal and an assist to led the Raiders. Ian Dwyer, Chase Zuber and Blake Kohnen scored the second-period goals for the Raptors.
FAIRMONT - Freshman Jonah Lohse's fourth goal of the game came 15 seconds into overtime and lifted Windom to a 5-4 Big South Conference victory over Fairmont at Martin County Arena.
Lohse has nine goals this season, second most among the Eagles (3-8-1).
Gavin Kester scored three goals to lead the Cardinals (0-7-0), who had their highest offensive output of the season.
THIEF RIVER FALLS - Nolan Meulebroeck's goal 16 seconds tin the third period helped boost East Grand Forks to a 3-2 victory over Thief River Falls at Ralph Engelstad Arena in a matchup of longtime Section 8A powers.
Jace Van Eps scored the other two goals for No. 8-1A East Grand Forks (6-5-1).
Jackson Boyer and Spencer Anderson scored for Thief River Falls (4-7-0).
PRIOR LAKE - Parker Wenkus scored 18 seconds into overtime to give Prior Lake a 4-3 win over Chanhassen at the Dakotah! Ice Arena.
Chanhassen (2-9-0) opened the game with power-play goals by Gavin Anderson and Brady Robbins 21 seconds apart.
Prior Lake (6-6-1) started its comeback when Mario Bernard scored on the power play 62 seconds into the second period. The Lakers then took a 3-2 lead when Wenkus scored with 6:42 left in the second.
The Storm's Ryan Colleran scored on the power play with 1:47 remaining in the second to tie the contest.
MOORHEAD - Zac Zimmerman recorded a hat trick and Brooks Cullen added two goals as No. 1-2A Moorhead picked up a 9-2 win over Buffalo at the Moorhead Sports Center.
Mason Kraft had four assists and a goal for the Spuds (12-1-0).
Buffalo (4-7-0) scored the first two goals of the second period to cut Moorhead's lead to 3-2 but Zimmerman scored on the power play as the Spuds scored the game's final six goals.
Buffalo's Aubrey Baker made 64 saves.
MOOSE LAKE - Moose Lake's Chase Klavu scored with 3:12 remaining in regulation to give the Rebels a 1-0 win over Greenway at Riverside Arena.
Eli Gilbertson stopped 21 shots for the shutout as Moose Lake improved to 7-6-0.
Blayne Kelly made 29 saves for Greenway (4-6-0).
