WILLMAR - Senior forward Owen Chiodo scored five consecutive goals, the outburst spanning all three periods, to power Detroit Lakes past Willmar 7-0 on Friday at the Willmar Civic Center.
Chiodo, who was celebrating his birthday according to Twitter, scored two goals in each of the first and second periods and added a goal in the third to complete the flurry. He entered the night having been held without a goal in the season's first seven games.
Noah Germain earned the shutout for No. 14-1A Detroit Lakes (6-1-1).
EDINA - Nathan Garski's third-period goal propelled Grand Rapids past Eden Prairie 2-1 in the second round of the Edina Holiday Classic at Braemar Arena.
Will Miskovich scored the lone goal of the second period to pull No. 15-2A Grand Rapids (6-3-0) into a 1-1 tie with No. 11-2A Eden Prairie (6-2-0).
Eden Prairie's John Kleis scored the lone goal of the first period. Grand Rapids goaltender Carter Casey made 34 saves.
HUTCHINSON - Senior forward Emmett Reiter scored twice in the final 6 minutes as Hutchinson knocked off Little Falls 4-1 at Burich Arena in Hutchinson.
Reiter's goals give him a team-leading 10 this season. No other Hutchinson player has more than four.
Lukas Heilman stopped 24 shots for the Tigers (2-7-0).
Izaak Kalis made 24 saves for No. 12-1A Little Falls (3-3-1).
ROSEAU - Taevon Welle scored twice to lead Bemidji past Roseau 4-1 at Roseau memorial Arena in matchup of Section 8AA residents.
The goals were the fifth and sixth of the season for Welle, a junior forward. Bemidji improves to 7-2-0 with the victory.
Austin Klint scored the lone goal for Roseau (5-4-1).
LONG LAKE - Trey Landa scored twice in the final 3:03 to help push Orono to a 6-2 upset victory over Hibbing/Chisholm at Orono Ice Arena.
Benny Galli's goal with 4:26 remaining pulled No. 3-1A Hibbing/Chisholm (7-3-0) to within 4-2. Landa, a senior, then put the game out of reach with his two goals.
Ethan Pagel and Luca Decubellis scored early in the third period for No. 13-1A Orono (5-4-2).
FORT FRANCES, Ont. - Collum McCormick and Ashton Armstrong scored third-period goals as Fort Frances, Ontario, won Round 1 of the Border Battle between Rainy River neighbor International Falls 3-1 at the Ice for Kids Arena.
Asher Keep's second-period power-play goal gave International Falls (4-1-0) a short-lived 1-0 lead.
The teams play annually for a traveling Border Battle trophy consisting of a mounted walleye.
