ST. LOUIS PARK - Ryan Pellinger made 33 saves and Nolan O'Connell scored the winning goal as Wayzata beat Benilde-St. Margaret's 3-2 on Tuesday in a showdown of top Section 6AA teams at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.
O'Connell scored off a 2-on-1 break with Tommy Colmenero, who stole the puck from a Benilde-St. Margaret's defenseman and then fed O'Connell in the slot.
Cam Kirschner scored both goals for No. 7-2A Benilde-St. Margaret's (3-2-0).
Tate Roeder and Christopher Pyle also scored for No. 14-2A Wayzata (6-2-1).
FOREST LAKE - Blake Eckerle scored 22 seconds into overtime to lift White Bear Lake past Forest Lake 4-3 at the Forest Lake Sports Center.
Eckerle also scored a second-period power-play goal for the No. 13-2A Bears (5-1-1).
Nate Peterson scored the lone goal of the third period to pull Forest Lake (2-5-0) into a 3-3 tie.
Will Distad had three assists and Jack Stanius recorded a goal and an assist for White Bear Lake.
MONTICELLO - Sophomore defenseman Nicklas Nelson scored three goals, including a pair in the second period, to lead undefeated Monticello past Princeton 6-5 at the Moose Sherritt Ice Arena.
Neither team held more than a one-goal lead until midway through the third when No. 9-1A Monticello (7-0-0) went up 6-4 on a goal by Levi Welle.
Nelson also had two assists and Monticello goaltender Logan Blahnik made 19 saves. Kole Roth stopped 41 shots for Princeton (3-6-0).
APPLE VALLEY - Rosemount scored four unanswered goals spanning the first and second periods as it cruised past Eastview 5-2 at the Apple Valley Sports Arena.
The victory gives No. 10-2A Rosemount a 9-0-0 record, the best mark in the state.
Christian Garrity's power-play goal with 6:10 left in the first period proved to be the game-winner.
Austin Dwyer and Sam Wooten scored for Eastview (4-5-0).
PARK RAPIDS - Brothers Anthony and William Yerxa each had three goals and four assists as International Falls remained unbeaten with the 12-2 triumph over Park Rapids at Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena.
The Broncos (5-0-0) scored six of their goals in the second period and led 9-1 heading into the third. The Yerxas completed their hat tricks in the third period.
Anthony Yerxa has scored three-or-more goals in all four of the Broncos' games, and his 14 goals are the second most in the state behind the 15 scored by Rogers' Mason Jenson in eight games.
International Falls has reached double digits in scoring in all but one of its games.
WASECA - Jayden Gehring's goal with 36 seconds remaining lifted Waseca past Big South Conference rival New Ulm 3-2 at the Waseca Community Arena.
New Ulm led 2-1 late in the third period, but Brayden Hesch-Priem's goal with 2:29 tied it at 2-2 and set up Gehring's winner. Hunter Anderson also scored for No. 17-1A Waseca (6-0-1).
Ian Brudelie and Brecken Neuman scored for New Ulm (4-3-0).
HOPKINS - Dylan Otten scored the game's lone goal with 5:37 remaining and Jack Chadwick stopped 29 shots to lead Apple Valley/Burnsville past Hopkins 1-0 at the Hopkins Pavillion Ice Arena.
The victory was the second in as many games for the Eagles (2-6-0), who lost their first six games to start the season.
Isaac Winkler made 40 saves for Hopkins (4-3-0).
