Nov. 29: Kruz Sauer lifts Trojans past Rock Ridge; CDH, Hermantown skate to OT tie

Wayzata 4, Rock Ridge 3

VIRGINIA - Sophomore Kruz Sauer scored with 61 seconds left to lift Wayzata past previously unbeaten Rock Ridge 4-3 on Friday at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center in Virginia.

Junior Eli Molde had a goal and two assists to pace No. 8-2A Wayzata (2-1-0), which scored four of the game's final five goals after falling behind 2-0 just 3:37 into the first.

Colton Bialke had a goal and an assist for Rock Ridge, which opened its season with victories over Brainerd and Forest Lake.

Cretin-Derham Hall 4, Hermantown 4 OT

HERMANTOWN - Max Bennett scored late in the third period to lift Cretin-Derham Hall to a 4-4 tie with Hermantown in the season debut for both teams at the Hermantown Ice Arena.

Max Anderson scored twice for No. 3-2A Cretin-Derham Hall.

River Freeman scored the tying goal for No. 2-1A Hermantown.

Hibbing/Chisholm 6, St. Cloud Cathedral 3

HIBBING - Hunter Gustavsson scored twice and Timothy Urdahl made 24 saves to lead Hibbing/Chisholm past defending state Class 1A champion St. Cloud Cathedral 6-3 at the Hibbing Memorial Building.

Kevin Elsner, Whitaker Rewertz and Ethan Sundvall scored for No. 4-1A Hibbing/Chisholm (2-1-0) in the third as it broke open a 3-3 game.

Joey Gillespie scored early in the third period for No. 1-1A St. Cloud Cathedral (0-1-1), the only goal for the Crusaders' top line.

Minnetonka 3, Andover 2

MINNETONKA - Tyson Mahady's goal with 3:50 remaining lifted Minnetonka past Andover 3-2 in the opening round of the Tonka Thanksgiving Preview at the Pagel Activity Center.

Luke Babineau pulled No. 14-2A Andover (0-2-0) into a 2-2 tie early in the second period. Cash Cruitt made 25 saves for the Huskies.

Chase Jerdeen made 12 saves and Jordan Johnson had two assists for No. 11-2A Minnetonka (1-1-0).

Centennial 6, Mahtomedi 2

CIRCLE PINES - Joey Hemr had a goal and three assists to lead Centennial past Mahtomedi 6-2 in the first round of the Centennial Holiday Tournament at Centennial Sports Arena.

The loss was the third in as many outings for No. 7-1A Mahtomedi, which surrendered 34 shots.

Easton Cody made 24 saves for No. 17-2A Centennial (1-1-0).
