Minnetonka’s Hagen Burrows was named the winner of the Mr. Hockey Award on Sunday at the St. Paul RiverCentre.

Sunday’s other big winner was Chanhassen’s Kam Hendrickson, the recipient of the Frank Brimsek Award that goes to the state’s top senior goaltender.

The Mr. Hockey Award, given to the state’s top senior skater, started in 1985 and the Frank Brimsek Award in 1995.

Burrows led Minnetonka to an undefeated regular season and appearance in the Section 2AA championship game. He scored 19 goals and added 40 assists in 28 games to lead the Skippers in scoring. Minnetonka, ranked No. 1 in the state in Class 2A all season, went 25-1-2. 

Burrows, as a junior, was a key cog on the Skippers’ 2023 state championship team. He’s committed to play Division I hockey at Denver. Burrows finished his three-year high school career with 135 points in 86 games.

The other nine Mr. Hockey finalists were Javon Moore (Minnetonka), Jackson Nevers (Edina), Carson Pilgrim (Warroad), Nolan Roed (White Bear Lake), John Stout (Minnetonka), Gavin Uhlenkamp (Chanhassen), Noah Urness (Roseau), Rhys Wallin (Wayzata) and Louis Wehmann (Providence Academy).

Hendrickson helped lead Chanhassen to a Class 2A runner-up finish its first state tournament appearance. He led all state tournament goalies (both classes) with a 1.03 goals-against average and was third with a .935 save percentage.

Combining regular season and postseason stats, Hendrickson led the state with a .951 save percentage and was second statewide with a 1.01 goals-against average. His seven shutouts were tied for third most in the state. Chanhassen finished with a 25-6-0 record.

Hunter Bauer of Minnetoka and A.J. Reyelts of Proctor were the other finalists for the award.

Minnetonka's John Stout won the Reed Larson Award that goes to the state's top senior defenseman.
