Hockey Night: Bobby Cowan's goal in final seconds lifts Edina past BSM

Feb. 24: La Crescent's Wyatt Farrell ties state's all-time career goals mark; Marshall stuns Luverne

Edina 2, Benilde-St. Margaret's 1

BLOOMINGTON - Bobby Cowan's wraparound goal with 12 seconds left gave Edina a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Benilde-St. Margaret's in a Section 6AA semifinal at the Bloomington Ice Garden.

No. 2 seed Edina (22-4-1) trailed 1-0 entering the third but Caleb Pittsley scored 2:11 into the period to tie the score. After Jackson Nevers carried the puck into the Hornets' offensive zone, Barrett Dexheimer found Cowan, who tucked in the puck after skating behind the net for the game winner.

A.J. Ulrich scored in the second for Benilde-St. Margaret's (21-5-1), which was the section's No. 3 seed.

Joe Bertram made 21 saves for Edina.

Dodge County 4, La Crescent-Hokah 3

ROCHESTER - No. 2 seed Dodge County scored four second-period goals as it hung on to defeat No. 3 seed La Crescent-Hokah 4-3 in a Section 1A semifinal at the Rochester Rec Center.

Gryffon Funke scored two of those four goals as he became the leading goal scorer in Dodge County history with 99 goals. Brett Ludvigsen's backhand shot gave the Wildcats (19-7-1) a 4-2 lead after two periods.

La Crescent-Hokah (24-3-0) got two goals from Wyatt Farrell, who tied Little Falls' Ben Hanowski for the top spot in the state's all-time goals scored list with 196. Farrell's record-tying goal came in the second.

Marshall 3, Luverne 2

ST. PETER - Blake Grimsley scored with 8:30 remaining to give Marshall a 3-2 upset win over Luverne in a Section 3A semifinal at Lund Arena.

Marshall (16-11-0), the section's No. 5 seed, took a 2-0 lead on goals by Easton Larsen, who scored in both the first and second periods.

No. 1 seed Luverne (24-3-0), ranked No. 16 in Class 1A, cut the lead to 2-1 with Maddox Domagala's goal with 2:58 left in the second.

Following Grimsley's goal, Luverne's Benjamin Hartquist scored with 4:24 remaining but couldn't get another shot past Marshall goaltender Gavin Welsh.

Monticello 3, Little Falls 2 (3 OT)

MONTICELLO - Ashton Stoll scored with 1:31 remaining in the third overtime to lift No. 2 seed Monticello to a 3-2 win over No. 3 seed Little Falls in the Section 5A semifinal at Moose Sherritt Ice Arena.

The Moose (21-5-1), ranked No. 11 in in Class 1A, took a quick 2-0 lead on goals by Caleb Biard and Stoll 6:28 into the contest.

No. 15-1A Little Falls (17-10-0) answered with goals by Carter Oothoudt and Luke Avery nearly three minutes apart to tie the contest with 3:04 left in the first.

Both teams had scoring chances in the next four periods before Stoll's game winner.

Izaak Kalis made 56 saves for Little Falls and Owen Soderholm stopped 27 shots for Monticello.

Elk River/Zimmerman 4, Moorhead 2

MOORHEAD - Cooper Anderson scored 59 seconds into the second period to give Elk River/Zimmerman a 3-2 lead and the Elks hung on for a 4-2 win over Moorhead in the Section 8AA semifinals at the Moorhead Sports Center.

No. 4 seed Elk River/Zimmerman (17-9-1) got goals from Gavin Sperling and Kole Mears as the teams skated to a 2-2 tie in the first.

Tyden Bergeson and Mason Kraft scored for the top seed Moorhead (13-13-1), which saw its streak of 23 years reaching a section final snapped with the loss.

Buffalo 2, St. Cloud 1 (OT)

BUFFALO - Eli Tiernan scored 5:07 into overtime to give Buffalo a 2-1 win over St. Cloud in a Section 8AA semifinal at the Buffalo Civic Center.

Tiernan also scored in the second for Buffalo (10-16-1), the No. 6 seed.

Jack Fitch added a second-period goal for St. Cloud (11-15-1), the section's No. 7 seed.

Max Varner made 34 saves for Buffalo.

Centennial 5, Rogers 1

ELK RIVER - Alex Clampitt and Heath Nelson each scored two goals to lead No. 2 seed Centennial to a 5-1 win over No. 3 seed Rogers in a Section 5AA semifinal at the Furniture and Things Community Event Center.

After Tanner Graczyk gave No. 14-2A Centennial (18-7-2) a 1-0 lead 3:28 into the contest, Clampitt scored his first goal nearly five minutes later. Cole Bumgarner got No. 9-2A Rogers (18-7-2) within a goal with 4:48 left in the first.

Nelson scored the second period's only goal to push the Cougars' lead back to two.

Clampitt scored 5:12 into the third and Nelson completed the scoring with 2:54 to play.

Easton Cody made 41 saves for Centennial.
