DELANO - The Cardiac Kids are back.
Delano, which won three of four overtime games against high-caliber opponents in mid-December, closed the regular season in fitting fashion on Saturday with a 2-1 overtime victory over Northfield at the Delano Area Sports Arena.
Sophomore forward Brody Geislinger scored on a power play with 2:53 left in the extra session to give the No. 7-1A Tigers (16-8-1) their fifth overtime win of the season. The goal was Geislinger's eighth of the season. Incredibly, five of them have been game winners.
Will Cashin scored the lone goal for No. 8-1A Northfield (19-4-2), which is 0-2-2 in overtime games this season.
APPLE VALLEY - Zach Wooten scored what proved to be the game winner late in the second period as Eastview knocked off Shakopee 3-2 on Saturday at the Apple Valley Sports Arena.
Wooten's goal with 1:11 left in the second put the No. 14-2A Lightning (17-7-1) ahead 3-1.
Cooper Simpson pulled No. 6-2A Shakopee (20-4-1) to within 3-2 with 11:38 left in the third.
Gabe Otis was superb in goal, making 38 saves for Eastview.
MOORHEAD - Junior forward Boden Sampair scored 24 seconds into the overtime period to lift Hill-Murray to a 6-5 win over Moorhead at the Moorhead Sports Center.
The goal was the second of the game for Sampair, who closed out a seven-goal second period by scoring with 53 seconds left to tie the score at 4-4.
Brooks Cullen scored back-to-back goals for Moorhead late in the second period, putting the Spuds (12-12-1) ahead 4-3.
No. 10-2A Hill-Murray outshot Moorhead 37-20.
STILLWATER - Matthew Volkman scored twice, and his goal with 6:32 left in regulation pulled Stillwater into an eventual 2-2 overtime tie with Holy Family at the St. Croix Recreation Center.
Volkman, a junior forward, also scored the lone goal of the first period. His two goals give him 10 this season for the Ponies (14-9-2).
Bryce Wiitala and Drew Roelofs scored second-period goals for No. 20 Holy Family (16-7-2).
WARROAD - Murray Marvin-Cordes scored twice and Ben Norris made eight saves to earn the shutout as Warroad rolled past Northern Lakes 3-0 at The Gardens Arena.
No. 4-1A Warroad (20-5-0) scored a goal in each period. Sam Hard scored in the first and Marvin-Cordes scored in each of the second and third periods.
The goals were Marvin-Cordes' 18th and 19th of the season.
Nigel DeSanto made 43 saves for No. 19-1A Northern Lakes (16-9-0).
OWATONNA - Teis Larsen scored twice for Winona and Owen Beyer had two goals for Owatonna as the teams tied 4-4 in overtime in a Big 9 Conference showdown at the Four Seasons Centre.
Beyer, Owatonna's leading scorer with 31 goals, put the Huskies (17-5-3) ahead 4-3 with 4:12 left in the third.
Larsen, Winona's leading scorer with 42 goals, tied it 4-4 with 1:06 left in the third.
Owatonna outshot Winona (16-7-1) 6-1 in the overtime period and 39-19 overall.
The Huskies finished third in the Big 9 Conference standings, one spot ahead of the Winhawks.
ST. PAUL - Senior forward Nolan Roed scored three goals to lead White Bear Lake to a 5-3 victory over Cretin-Derham Hall at Highland Arena in a matchup of Suburban East Conference leaders.
Roed scored twice in the third period and had the lone goal in the second as No. 19-2A White Bear Lake (17-7-1) took a 4-1 lead into the final period.
Jimmy Dodig and Aidan Siegfried scored third-period goals for Cretin-Derham Hall (14-10-1).
White Bear Lake finished in a tie for first place in the Suburban East with Stillwater. Both teams have 14-2-0 league records. Cretin-Derham Hall finished tied for third with Park.
ANOKA - Seth Terhell had a goal and an assist and Jaxon Sibell made 29 saves as No. 9 seed Cambridge-Isanti beat No. 8 seed Anoka 3-1 at Anoka Ice Arena in the first round of the Section 7AA playoffs.
Sean Brown's goal with 1:43 left in the second period put the Bluejackets (11-15-0) ahead 3-0.
Kadden Soukup scored on a power play in the third period for Anoka (4-21-0).
