MINNETONKA - Danny Klaers' overtime goal boosted Minnetonka past Wayzata 5-4 on Thursday at the Pagel Activity Center, maintaining the defending Class 2A state champion Skippers' status as the state's lone unbeaten team.

Alex Lunski set up the winning goal by winning a face-off back to defenseman Robbie House, who then found defensive partner Klaers near the boards at the top of the right face-off circle. Klaers then rifled a short-side shot that beat Trojans goaltender Evan Turek.

Minnetonka's Javon Moore scored with 7:37 left in the third to tie the score at 4-4. The goal was his 17th of the season, tied for the team lead with Ashton Schultz, who had a pair of goals in the second period.

No. 3-2A Wayzata (17-2-2) led 2-0 after the first period on goals by Jake Mattson and Eli Molde. No. 1-2A Minnetonka (18-0-2) scored three unanswered goals in the second to take the lead.

Rhys Wallin and Molde scored in the third as the Trojans pulled ahead 4-3. 

The teams tied 1-1 on Dec. 29 in their previous meeting this season.

SHAKOPEE - Junior forward Peyton Chase scored twice and Aleksi Huson made 37 saves as Shakopee downed Holy Family 6-1 at Shakopee Ice Arena in a matchup of teams vying for a top-four seed in the ultra competitive Section 2AA.

Chase put No. 6-2A Shakopee (16-3-1) ahead with his goal late in the first period and completed the scoring with 3:47 remaining.

Shakopee scored two goals in each of the second and third periods as it pulled away. 

Adam Crosby scored the lone goal for No. 11-2A Holy Family (12-5-1) and Fire goaltender Stefano Carranza made 36 saves.

ROSEAU - Noah Urness scored twice to reach the 30-goal mark for the season as Roseau beat longtime Section 8AA rival Moorhead 6-3 at Roseau Memorial Arena.

Tyden Bergeson scored for Moorhead (8-11-1) 1:34 into the third period to tie it at 3-3. Roseau (15-5-1) scored the final three goals, including two into an empty net in the closing minute.

The teams have met for the Section 8AA championship in three of the past four seasons, with Moorhead winning each time. The Spuds are the five-time defending section champion.

ANDOVER - Gavin Greniuk made 31 saves and Braden Hansberger had a goal and an assist as Elk River upended Andover 4-1 at the Andover Community Center.

Elk River (11-9-1) led 3-0 entering the third period on goals by Daniel Babcock, Cooper Anderson and Easton Johnson.

No. 9-2A Andover (14-6-1) opened the scoring in the third period on a goal by Crosby Perry. The Elks regained their three-goal lead on Hansberger's goal with 3:47 remaining.

STILLWATER - Three players scored two goals each as No. 7-2A St. Thomas Academy defeated Mahtomedi 8-1 at the St. Croix Valley Recreation Center.

Jimmy Zavoral, Michael Mikan and Will Dolan each scored twice for the No. 7-2A Cadets (13-6-2). Those three scored in the first as St. Thomas Academy opened a 3-0 lead in the game's first six minutes. The Cadets' Max Candon later made it 4-0.

Patrick Egan scored in the second period for No. 6-1A Mahtomedi (9-11-0), the defending state Class 1A champion.

BLAINE - Logan Forrest scored twice to lead Irondale to a 3-1 win over Minneapolis at the Super Rink, National Sports Center.

No. 20-1A Minneapolis (9-12-0) took a 1-0 lead on Johan Krasean's goal 4:47 into the game but Forrest tied the contest a few minutes later for the Knights (10-9-0).

Forrest scored the eventual game winner midway in the second. Lincoln Urdahl completed the scoring.

Alex Sabev stopped 33 shots for Irondale.

EAST GRAND FORKS - Brock Schultz and Grady Magner each scored two goals as East Grand Forks recorded an 8-2 win over Grand Forks Red River (N.D.) at the East Grand Forks Civic Arena.

The No. 4-1A Green Wave (14-7-1) led 2-1 after the first period and then 3-1 after two periods before erupting for five goals in the third.

The teams traded goals in the first before Hunter Varnson gave East Grand Forks a 2-1 lead with 2:24 left. Tucker Lovejoy extended the lead to 3-1 with his goal in the second.

Tyson Ulmer of Grand Forks Red River (15-5-0) cut the lead to 3-2 with his goal 2:27 into the third but the Green Wave closed the game with five unanswered goals. Magner scored the first of his two power-play goals 3:38 into the third to start the outburst.

Schultz scored an even-strength goal before adding a short-handed one before Magner's second power-play goal made it 7-2. Chance Moe closed the scoring with a power-play goal with 1:45 to play.

ROCHESTER - Ole Fevold's goal with 11:54 remaining held up as the game winner as Rochester Century/John Marshall defeated Owatonna 3-2 in a Big 9 Conference contest at Graham Arena.

The Panthers (16-3-1) led 2-0 after the first period on goals by Boston Collins and Aiden Emerich.

Owatonna (14-5-1) got a goal by Joseph Webster in the second before Owen Beyer tied the game 3:44 into the third period.

The Panthers and Huskies each have 23 points in the conference standings and share second place behind league-leading Northfield (30 points).
