STILLWATER - Hill-Murray coach Bill Lechner earned his 600th career victory on Thursday as the Pioneers cruised past Metro East Conference rival Mahtomedi 9-1 at the St. Croix Valley Recreation Center.
Lechner, who coached five seasons at Stillwater before taking over the Pioneers, has a 600-268-38 record. He's one of five coaches in state boys high school hockey history with 600-or-more career wins.
The No. 12-2A Pioneers (10-5-2) led 3-0 after the first period and 5-0 midway through the second,
Simon Seidl and Chaz Lentz each scored twice for Hill-Murray, and Landon Cottingham had a goal and three assists.
Jake Hodd-Chlebeck scored the lone goal for No. 6-1A Mahtomedi (8-10-0), the defending small-school state champion. Mahtomedi coach Jeff Poeschl, a Hill-Murray grad, earned his 500th career coaching victory earlier this season.
SHAKOPEE - Cooper Simpson and Cooper Siegert each scored twice and Aleksi Huson stopped 42 shots as Shakopee held off Gentry Academy 5-3 at the Shakopee Ice Arena.
Siegert put No. 6-2A Shakopee (14-3-1) ahead 3-0 early in the second and closed the scoring with 1:20 left in the third.
Simpson scored the game's first two goals (the lone goal of the first and early in the second). The two Coopers share the team goal-scoring lead with 22 each.
Huson made 17 of his saves in the second period en route to his 14th win of the season.
Easton Rooney's goal midway through the third period pulled No. 18-2A Gentry Academy (15-5-0) to within 4-3.
The Stars outshot the Sabers 45-28.
ROSEAU - Wayzata built a three-goal lead entering the third period then hung on to beat Roseau 5-4 at Roseau Memorial Arena, snapping the Rams' 10-game unbeaten streak.
Cade De St. Hubert scored with 56 seconds left in the second period to put No. 2-2A Wayzata (15-1-2) ahead 5-2.
Jake Kvien and James Jacques scored third-period goals for Roseau (14-4-1).
Wayzata outshot the Rams 36-25.
COON RAPIDS - Will Wagner made 53 saves to lead Coon Rapids past Elk River/Zimmerman 5-1 at the Coon Rapids Ice Center.
Wagner, a senior, stopped 25 shots in a scoreless first period and made 18 saves in the third.
Five players scored goals for Coon Rapids (9-4-0).
Kole Mears scored the lone goal for Elk River/Zimmerman (9-8-1), putting the Elks ahead 1-0 early in the second period.

ALBERTVILLE - Hagen Burrows had a seven-point night (two goals, five assists) as Minnetonka, the state's last unbeaten team, steamrolled St. Michael-Albertville 18-0.
Luke Garry scored four goals and added two assists and Ashton Schultz (three goals, three assists) also had six points.
Goaltender Hunter Bauer made nine saves to earn the shutout for the No. 1-2A Skippers (16-0-2). Bauer's shutout was his state-leading eighth of the season.
Injury-depleted St. Michael-Albertville dropped to 5-14-0.
CIRCLE PINES - Austin Petersen scored twice and Harper Searles had a goal and three assists as Centennial defeated Northwest Suburban Conference rival Champlin Park 7-2 at the Centennial Sports Arena.
Petersen, a senior defenseman, scored twice in the first period as the Cougars (12-4-2) took a 3-0 lead.
High-scoring Champlin Park (9-9-1) scored twice late in the second period but could get no closer than 5-2.
PLYMOUTH - Josh Wilson's empty net goal in the closing seconds proved to be the winner in Providence Academy's 3-2 triumph over Southwest Christian/Richfield at the Plymouth Ice Center.
Wilson, a sophomore defenseman, scored his first goal of the season with 43 seconds remaining.
Southwest Christian/Richfield (11-6-0) got a goal from Kaden Feltmann with 5 seconds remaining.
