MAPLEWOOD - Casper Lang scored twice as defensemen accounted for four goals for Hill-Murray in its 5-2 victory over Metro East Conference rival St. Thomas Academy at Aldrich Arena in one of just two games played statewide Wednesday night.
Defensemen Landon Cottingham and Graham Greeder also scored for the No. 14-2A Pioneers (6-5-2) as they engineered the upset over the No. 5-2A Cadets (10-4-1).
Lang, a sophomore defenseman, put Hill-Murray ahead 2-0 with 4:37 left in the first period and made it 5-2 with 6:06 left with his second goal.
Greeder's shorthanded goal put the Pioneers ahead 4-2 6:36 into the third period.
Max Candon and Will Dosan scored for St. Thomas Academy, which had its eight-game unbeaten streak snapped. The win halted Hill-Murray's four-game losing skid.
PRINCETON - Jack Bakken scored three goals, all in the second period, to lead Chisago Lakes to a 5-2 victory over Princeton at the Princeton Ice Arena.
Bakken, a senior forward, opened the scoring 1:04 into the second period and scored back-to-back goals 3:59 apart late in the second to put the Wildcats (7-7-0) ahead 5-1.
Ty Gajeski added a goal and an assist for Mississippi 8 Conference leader Chisago Lakes.
Connor Stokke and Dominic Patnode scored for Princeton (6-6-1).
