MAPLE GROVE - Senior defenseman Gavin Anderson's goal 6:03 into the third period held up as the winner as Maple Grove upended Chanhassen 2-0 in the first round of The Premiere Holiday Classic in the Grove at Maple Grove Community Center.
Junior goaltender Zach Price made 34 saves to earn the shutout for the No. 12-2A Crimson (6-2-0), who won their sixth straight after starting the season with back-to-back losses.
Anderson's goal was the first of his varsity career.
Lucas Busch added an empty net goal in the waning seconds to clinch the victory for Maple Grove.
Kam Hendrickson made 16 saves for No. 3-2A Chanhassen (7-4-0).
ST. LOUIS PARK - Junior forward Boden Sampair scored 1:25 into overtime to lift Hill-Murray past Champlin Park 3-2 in the first round of the Premiere Holiday Classic in the Park at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.
Sampair's goal, his team-leading sixth of the season, capped a comeback from a 2-0 deficit as Champlin Park (4-4-1) led for most of regulation.
Caden Zasada pulled the No. 8-2A Pioneers (5-1-2) to within 2-1 midway through the third and Lucas Mann tied it with 7:09 remaining.
Will Burnevik and Trevor Aberwald scored second-period goals for the Rebels.
Hill-Murray is unbeaten in four overtime games this season.
ROSEAU - Seven goals were scored in the final period, including five in the final 6:07, as Roseau rallied for a 7-6 victory over Minneapolis in the second round of the Roseau Holiday Classic at Roseau Memorial Arena.
Jude Wittrock's goal with 2:45 left completed the scoring for Roseau (7-3-0), which scored seven or more goals for the fourth time this season.
Jack Halvorson and Gavin Jensen also scored for the Rams in the closing minutes as they rallied from a 6-4 deficit.
Senior forward Ronan Davis scored three goals for No. 18-1A Minneapolis (4-7-0).
PLYMOUTH - Senior forward Hagen Burrows, one of several Minnetonka Mr. Hockey candidates, scored twice and added an assist as the Skippers dispatched of Rogers 6-1 at the Plymouth Ice Center in the first round of the Premiere Holiday Classic at the PIC.
Drew Krekelberg scored 2:30 into the opening period for No. 4-2A Rogers (7-2-1), and the upset bid ended there. No. 1-2A Minnetonka (9-0-0) scored the final six goals, including two from Burrows as the Skippers built a 3-1 lead early in the second period.
Sam Scheetz had a goal and two assist for Minnetonka, the defending state Class 2A champion.
DATELINE - Senior defenseman Mason Stenger's power-play goal 29 seconds into the third period held up as the winner as Benilde-St. Margaret's held off Holy Family 3-2 in a first round game of The Premiere Holiday Classic in the Park at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.
The goal was the fifth of the season for Stenger, who is tied for first in scoring for the No. 5-2A Red Knights (7-1-0) with 11 points. Ben Norris, who also has 11 points, contributed a goal and an assist in the victory.
Erik Charchenko and Tanner Davis scored for No. 9-2A Holy Family (5-1-1) as it suffered its first loss of the season.
DULUTH - Gavin Moss scored twice and added an assist to lead Park of Cottage Grove to a 4-2 victory over previously unbeaten Owatonna in a quarterfinal of the Heritage Holiday Classic at the Heritage Sports Center.
Moss scored back-to-back goals in the second period to put Park (4-4-0) ahead 2-0. Owatonna (8-1-0) answered in the second with goal by Zachary Klecher to make it 2-1.
Goals by Brady Nadler and Jackson Rudh gave Park a comfortable 4-1 lead.
