VADNAIS HEIGHTS - Champlin Park's Brent Solomon outdueled White Bear Lake's Nolan Roed in the goal-scoring column as he scored four goals to Roed's three to lead the Rebels to a 6-5 upset victory on Tuesday at the TCO Sports Garden.
Solomon, who scored six goals in the Rebels' season opener, scored with 5 seconds left in the first period to put Champlin Park ahead 3-2 and the Rebels, after falling behind 2-1, never trailed again. Solomon's power-play goal win the final minute of the second period put Champlin Park (4-3-1) ahead 5-4 and his goal in the opening minute of the third gave the Rebels a two-goal cushion.
Solomon, a junior forward, has 15 goals this season, fourth most in the state.
Roed's hat trick gives him 12 goals.
DULUTH - Duluth Denfeld rallied from a two-goal deficit to tie Hermantown 2-2 in overtime on Cory Backstrom's goal with 36 seconds left in regulation at the Heritage Sports Center.
The game marked a dramatic turnaround from the previous meeting between the teams, an 8-1 Hermantown victory on Dec. 20, 2022.
The No. 1-1A Hawks (4-0-2) appeared to be on their way to another easy victory after goals by Jack Slattengren and Ford Skytta gave Germantown a 2-0 lead in the second period.
Brady Wick's power-play goal in the second period pulled Denfeld (5-3-1) to within a goal. Backstrom's goal also came on a power play.
WINONA - State scoring leaders Wyatt Farrell and Noah Gillette each had two points to lead La Crescent-Hokah to a 5-2 victory over Mississippi River-town rival Winona at the La Crescent Community Arena.
Gillette scored twice and Farrell had a goal and an assist for the Lancers who led 2-1 after the first period and 4-1 heading into the third.
Farrell leads the state in goals with 19 and points with 35. Gillette has 18 goals and 33 assists.
MANKATO - Owen Quist's goal with 4:27 left in the third period was the game winner as Mankato East held off Mankato West 3-2 in a clash of intracity rivals at All Seasons Arena.
Mankato West's Gage Schmidt tied it at 2-2 midway through the final period.
ALBERTVILLE - Third-period goals from Tanner Esterberg and Caleb Waller pushed St. Michael-Albertville to a 3-2 victory over Cloquet/Esko/Carlton at St. Michael-Albertville Arena.
Noah Sutlief made 26 saves for the Knights (3-4-0) en route to the victory. Jacob Illianardo made 28 saves for the Lumberjacks (5-3-0).
