ALBERTVILLE - Freshman Owen Volkenant scored 2:01 into overtime to lift St. Michael-Albertville past Brainerd 3-2 at St. Michael-Albertville Arena, spoiling a homecoming of sorts for first-year Warriors coach Jerr Johnson.

St. Michael-Albertville (1-0-0) led 2-0 late in the opening period when Kade Stengrim scored the first of his two goals for Brainerd (0-1-0).
Volkenant cut to the middle of the ice from the right boards and fired a shot that eluded the catching glove of Knights goaltender Noah Sutlief.
