DULUTH - Cooper Conway scored four goals, all in the second period, as defending Class 2A state champion and No. 2 seed Andover defeated No. 1 seed Duluth East 7-2 on Thursday in the Section 7AA championship game at Amsoil Arena.
No. 5-2A Andover (20-6-1) took a 1-0 lead on Gayvn Thoreson's shot from the slot 1:43 into the second. Conway scored the first of his goals with 13:53 remaining in the period. He added a shorthanded goal to make it 3-0 after faking to his forehand and sliding the puck past Duluth East goalkeeper Drew Raukar with a backhand shot.
Duluth East's Grant Winkler scored just after a power play expired to pull the No. 7-2A Greyhounds (20-6-1) to with in 3-1. Then Conway went back to work. He scored a power-play goal of his own on a rebound of a Thoreson shot. Conway then made it 5-1 with another power-play goal with 2:16 left in the second.
Cayden Casey pushed the lead to 6-1 just 22 seconds into the third period. Freshman KJ Sauer gave the Huskies a 7-1 lead 65 seconds later.
Duluth East got a power-play goal from Henry Murray with 4:02 remaining to complete the scoring.
In addition to his goal, Thoreson had five assists. Tristen May-Robinson added three assists and Brooks Cogswell had two.

EAST GRAND FORKS - Aaron Reierson scored four goals and Abe Carlson added two as No. 1 seed Moorhead beat longtime rival and No. 2 seed Roseau 8-1 in the Section 8AA championship game at the East Grand Forks Civic Center.
Kai Weigel made 25 saves for No. 14-2A Moorhead (19-9-0).
Noah Urness scored his 45th goal for No. 20-2A Roseau (17-10-1) in the second.
Carlson and Mason Kraft gave the Spuds a 2-0 lead after the first. Carlson's second goal came 2:51 into the second as Moorhead netted four goals in the period.
After Urness' goal, Joey Simonich made it 4-1 before Reierson scored the first of four-straight goals with 1:48 remaining in the period. His second goal came 26 seconds later and the Spuds led 6-1 after two periods.
Kraft added three assists to go with his goal while Simonich added two assists.

THIEF RIVER FALLS - Carson Pilgrim and Ryan Lund each scored two goals and Jayson Shaugabay had three assists as No. 1 seed Warroad beat No. 2 seed East Grand Forks 5-1 in the Section 8A championship game at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
No. 1-1A Warroad (27-0-1) led 2-0 after the first following Pilgrim's first goal just 1:44 into the game. Murray Marvin-Cordes scored with 3:02 left in the first.
Lund scored the only goal in the second and then gave the Warriors a 4-0 lead with 14:40 remaining in the third.
Pilgrim scored a shorthanded goal with 10:57 to play. The goal was the Warriors' 24th shorthanded goal this season.
Landon Jamieson scored a shorthanded goal for No. 5-1A East Grand Forks (16-12-0) with 3:17 remaining.
Hampton Slukynsky made 28 saves for Warroad.

ST. CLOUD - Leo Kompelien scored 50 seconds into overtime to complete a comeback win for No. 1 seed Alexandria as it defeated No. 2 seed Fergus Falls 5-4 in the Section 6A championship game at the Municipal Athletic Complex.
The Cardinals will make a return appearance at the state Class 1A tournament after finishing fourth last season.
No. 18-1A Fergus Falls (14-11-2) led 2-0 on goals by Jack Welde and Colin Becker just 3:33 into the game. No. 16-1A Alexandria (14-12-1) scored its first goal with 3:10 left in the first courtesy of Caleb Lind.
Brayden Nelson gave Fergus Falls a 3-1 lead but Alexandria's Jack Lamski and Tyler Kludt scored to tie the game 3-3.
Kellen Stenstrom scored with 12:12 remaining to give the Otters a 4-3 lead. However, Kludt's power-play goal with 3:07 to play forced overtime.
Alexandria outshot Fergus Falls 46-32.

MAPLEWOOD - Jonny Grove's second goal of the night lifted No. 1 seed Mahtomedi to a 3-1 win over No. 2 seed Chisago Lakes in the Section 4A championship game at Aldrich Arena.
The Zephyrs return to the state tournament after placing third last season.
Chisago Lakes (16-11-1) took the lead with Drake Thyen's goal 3:29 into the first.
Grove tied the game for No. 3-1A Mahtomedi (20-8-0) by scoring 63 seconds later.
Following a scoreless second, Grove scored with 6:24 to play to give the Skippers a 2-1 lead. Charlie Drage added a power-play goal with 3:13 remaining to complete the scoring.
