HASTINGS - Senior forward Jack Billings scored 2:49 into the second overtime period as No. 5 seed Rochester Century outlasted No. 5 seed Hastings 5-3 in a Section 1AA quarterfinal on Thursday at the Hastings Civic Arena.
Billings, stationed just outside the crease, took a pass from behind the net from Eddy Retzlaff and one-timed a shot past Hastings goaltender Kody Niederkorn. The goal was the eighth of the season for Billings.
Hastings' Blake Vandehoef scored with 1:14 in regulation to send the game into overtime.
T.J. Gibson scored three goals for Rochester Century (16-10-0), which led 3-2 after two periods.
Vandehoef's goal late in the third period was his second of the game. Niederkorn finished with 42 saves for Hastings (15-10-1)

SHAKOPEE - Sophomore forward Cooper Simpson scored twice as No. 3 seed Shakopee rallied from an early deficit to beat No. 6 seed Prior Lake 3-1 in a Section 2AA quarterfinal at Shakopee Ice Arena.
Simpson scored early in the second period to tie the score 1-1. His goal early in the third period gave the Sabres (16-10-0) a 3-1 cushion. Senior Jackson Vogel also scored in the second period for Shakopee, which advanced to a section semifinal for the first time since the 2004-05 season.
Levi Eiter scored a first-period goal for Prior Lake (11-14-1), last year's section champion.

DETROIT LAKES - Freshman forward Easton Kennedy scored twice and No. 3 seed Detroit Lakes limited Kittson Central star forward Tyler Hennen to a single assist in a 6-3 triumph over the No. 6 seed Bearcats in a Section 8A quarterfinal at Freeman Sports Arena.
Kennedy's goal 4:28 into the third period gave the No. 13-1A Lakers (17-7-1) a 5-3 lead. Timothy Johnson pulled Kittson Central (14-10-1) to within 5-3 with 9:30 remaining.
Detroit Lakes regained its two-goal lead on Aiden Kennedy's goal with 3:52 remaining.
Hennen, a senior forward committed to play at Augustana, finished his career with 320 points, fourth most in state history. Hennen leads the state with 71 goals and 121 points.

WARROAD - Junior defenseman Ryan Lund scored three goals and senior goaltender Hampton Slukynsky notched his ninth shutout of the season as No. 1 seed Warroad, the state's lone unbeaten team, cruised past No. 8 seed Park Rapids 8-0 at the Gardens Arena.
Lund scored twice in the first 8:07 of the opening period as No. 1-1A Warroad (25-0-1) took control early. Goals by Taven James and Broden Hontvet gave the Warriors a 4-0 lead at the opening intermission.
Senior forward Jayson Shaugabay scored twice in the second period, giving him 83 points this season and 291 in his career, good for sixth place on the state's all-time list.
Park Rapids (14-12-1) mustered just five shots on goal as Slukynsky earned the 20th shutout of his career.

THIEF RIVER FALLS - Braydin Lund scored twice during a four-goal second period for No. 4 seed Thief River Falls as it cruised past No. 5 seed Red Lake Falls 6-1 in a Section 8A quarterfinal at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
Thief River Falls (10-15-1) lost to Red Lake Falls (16-10-0) late in the regular season, believed to be the first time the Eagles had defeated the Prowlers dating to the start of the series in the 1955-56 season.
Evan Girdler scored the lone goal for Red Lake Falls.

ROCHESTER - Nicholas Weick made 17 saves and Samuel Jacobson had a goal and an assist as No. 2 seed Rochester Mayo eased past No. 7 seed Rochester John Marshall 4-0 in a Section 1AA quarterfinal at Graham Arena.
Rochester Mayo (19-5-2) suffered a 5-3 upset loss to Rochester John Marshall (14-11-1) 5-3 in the teams' lone regular season meeting.
The shutout was the second of the season for Weick, who won his 17th game.
