ST. PAUL - Ethan Peltier and Sebastian Hoiland scored 33 seconds apart early in the third period to help propel St. Paul Academy to a 4-3 victory over St. Paul Highland Park at Highland Arena in one of three games played statewide on Monday.
Hoiland and Peltier also scored back-to-back goals in the first period as the Spartans (12-11-1) took a 2-1 lead at intermission.
Charlie Eischens' goal with 3:50 left in regulation pulled Highland Park (10-12-2) to within 4-3.
Both teams reside in Section 4A and could be in line for a first-round matchup depending on results from the final few days of the regular season.

ROCHESTER - Junior defenseman Mark Spurgeon scored twice to lead Owatonna to a 3-2 victory over Rochester John Marshall at the Rochester Recreation Center.
Spurgeon scored the only goal of the first period and put the Huskies (10-12-2) ahead 3-1 with an empty-net goal with 1:50 remaining in the third.
Jayden Veney and Damon Miller scored for John Marshall (12-10-1).

ROCHESTER - Rochester Lourdes scored three unanswered goals in the third period as it surged to a 6-2 win over Waseca at Graham Arena.
Peyton Leslie had a goal and two assists for Lourdes (9-15-10) and Xander Carter-Kleven made 27 saves.
Injury and illness knocked Waseca's two varsity goaltenders out of the lineup, forcing coach Chris Storey to insert Armando Balderas, a junior who normally plays forward, in goal for the Bluejays (9-14-0).
Balderas stopped 29 shots. Lourdes' Xander Carter-Kleven made 27 saves.
