LAKEVILLE - Lakeville South scored the game's first two goals, and after that it was all Minnetonka as the Skippers beat the Cougars 5-2 on Saturday in a matchup of top-15 Class 2A teams at Hasse Arena.
No. 1-2A Minnetonka (17-2-0) started its comeback when Gavin Garry scored 3:07 into the second. Hagen Burrows tied it at 2-2 96 seconds later and Jack Sand gave the Skippers their first lead with 9:01 left in the middle period.
Ashton Dahms and Zander Billins gave No. 11-2A Lakeville South (11-5-1) a 2-0 lead after the first.
Burrows scored his second goal 2:31 into the third and Robby House's insurance goal with nine minutes left completed the scoring.
Minnetonka outshot Lakeville South 43-16, with 21 of those shots coming in the second.
Minnetonka has won eight straight. The Cougars had their five-game win streak snapped.

BUFFALO - Max Zook scored the game's lone goal 3:40 into the third period and Max Varner made 44 saves as Buffalo upset Wayzata 1-0 at the Buffalo Civic Center.
No. 2-2A Wayzata (13-4-2) outshot the Bison (9-7-2), 44-21. The Trojans are winless in their last four games.
Varner, a junior, became just the fifth goaltender this season to have 35 or more saves in a shutout.

MOORHEAD - Carson Pilgrim scored twice and Jayson Shaugabay had four points as Warroad remained unbeaten with a 4-2 win over Moorhead at the Moorhead Sports Center.
Shaugaby and Ryan Lund scored in the first to give No. 1-1A Warroad (18-0-0), the state's lone undefeated team, a quick 2-0 lead.
Ian Ness scored scored for No. 19-2A Moorhead (9-8-0) midway through the second but Pilgrim scored on a power play to give the Warriors a 3-1 lead.
Pilgrim scored in the third to give Warroad a 4-1 lead. Moorhead's Aaron Reierson scored with 1:26 left for the final margin.
Hampton Slukysnky stopped 32 shots for Warroad while Kai Weigel made 20 saves for the Spuds.

MAPLE GROVE - Brock Carls scored with 4:13 left in overtime to give Centennial a 7-6 overtime win in a back-and-forth shootout against Maple Grove at the Maple Grove Community Center.
No. 4-2A Maple Grove (15-4-1) took a 2-1 lead in the first on goals from Luke Giuliani and Finn Brink.
No. 13-2A Centennial (10-6-1) answered with three goals in the second to force a 4-4 tie. Drake Ramirez scored twice in the second period to complete his hat trick.
Maple Grove's Lucas Busch tied it at 6-6 on a power-play goal with 4:45 to play.
Ramirez added an assist to his hat trick while Carls, Harper Searles and Peyton Blair each added two assists.
Six players scored goals for Maple Grove, which has 22 goals in its last three games. Lucas Margenau, Jack Kernan and Blake Steenerson each had two assists for the Crimson.

OSSEO - Luke Sawicky scored four goals to lead Osseo to a 6-2 win over Elk River/Zimmerman at Dick Vraa Memorial Ice Arena.
The Orioles' victory snapped a 15-game losing streak to Elk River/Zimmerman. Osseo's last win in the series came Jan. 10, 2011, when it defeated the Elks 3-0.
After Braden Hansberger gave Elk River/Zimmerman (8-11-0) a 1-0 lead, Sawicky scored twice in the first for Osseo (10-10-0).
Sawicky, a senior forward, scored his third-straight goal 4:18 into the second. Sawicky and Tate Brink assisted on Eli Paloranta's goal as Osseo led 4-1 after two periods.
Sawicky recorded his fourth goal 2:33 into the third. He has a team-leading 24 goals this season.

COON RAPIDS - Senior forward Cooper Conway scored five goals to become the eighth player this season to score five or more goals in single game as Andover rolled past Coon Rapids 9-1 at the Coon Rapids Ice Center.
Conway, a Colorado College commit, scored twice in each of the first and second periods and completed his scoring spree 1:03 into the final period.
No. 8-2A Andover (14-5-1) also got six-point performances from Gavyn Thoreson (3 goals, 3 assists) and Cayden Casey (6 assists). Thoreson has committed to St. Cloud State and Casey to St. Lawrence.
Conway leads the Huskies with 29 goals. He and Thoreson each have 56 points. Casey has 49 points. All three rank in the top 20 in the state in scoring.
Nicolas Espinosa scored the lone goal for Coon Rapids (7-10-0).

WAHPETON, N.D. - Jack Rittenour's shorthanded goal late in the third period held up as the winner as Breckenridge/Wahpeton beat Becker/Big Lake 5-4 at Stern Sports Arena for its first win since the 2020-21 season.
The win snapped a 42-game winless streak for Breckenridge/Wahpeton dating to its 3-2 overtime victory over park Rapids on Feb. 16, 2021.
Breckenridge/Wahpeton (1-16-0) led 3-1 in the first period and 4-2 late in the third. Charlie Pishney scored for Becker/Big Lake with one minute left in the second to pull to the Bulldogs (7-10-0) to within 4-3.
Rittenour's goal came with 4:46 remaining and put the Blades in front 5-3. Becker/Big Lake's Garrett Marotz scored a power-play goal with 35 seconds remaining to complete the scoring.

EDEN PRAIRIE - Grant Olson scored twice and Robbie Clarkowski stopped 23 shots to lead Edina to a 4-0 win over Lake Conference rival Eden Prairie at the Eden Prairie Community Center.
The shutout was the third of the season for Clarkowski and second in three games.
No. 5-2A Edina (13-4-1) used two power-play goals in the second to pull away for a 3-0 lead.
Isaiah Paulnock stopped 30 shots for No. 19-2A Eden Prairie (8-10-1).
Both teams committed eight penalties.

HIBBING - Peyton Taylor's shorthanded goal in the second period proved to be the game winner as Hibbing/Chisholm defeated Thief River Falls 4-2 in a matchup of top-20 Class 1A tams at the Hibbing Memorial Building.
Taylor's goal gave No. 7-1A Hibbing/Chisholm (13-6-1) a 3-2 lead with 49 seconds left in the second.
Jace Erickson scored for No. 16-1A Thief River Falls (9-10-1) on a power play with 4:14 remaining to cut the Bluejackets' lead to 3-2, but Christian Edmonds scored an insurance goal for Hibbing/Chisholm with 1 minute left.

RICHFIELD - Cole Cheeseman scored twice as Holy Angels recorded a 4-2 win over Blake at Richfield Ice Arena.
Cheeseman's second goal, a power-play tally in the second, gave Holy Angels (11-5-1) a 3-1 lead.
Blake (11-7-1) cut the lead to one with Rowan Heithoff's goal with 2:49 left. The Bears' comeback hopes were dashed with Jack Bartfield's power-play goal with 1:13 remaining.
Luke Marsalek stopped 33 shots for Holy Angels.

MONTICELLO - Evan Anderson scored with 1:18 remaining to lift Alexandria to a 3-2 win over Monticello at Moose Sherritt Ice Arena.
Alexandria (7-10-1) and Monticello (12-7-1) traded goals in both the first and second periods.
The Cardinals took a 2-1 lead on Leo Kompelien's goal 64 seconds into the second but Quinton Brooks tied the game with 5:49 remaining in the middle period.
Brooks had a goal and an assist for the Moose while Tyler Kludt had the same for Alexandria.
