Hockey Night: Chanhassen runs win streak to 16 games

Jan. 24: Storm hold on to beat White Bear Lake; Warroad completes sweep of Roseau to stay unbeaten

Chanhassen 4, White Bear Lake 2

VADNAIS HEIGHTS - Chanhassen extended its win streak to 16 games with a 4-2 triumph over White Bear Lake on Tuesday at TCO Sports Garden, snapping the Bears' nine-game win streak.

No. 3-2A Chanhassen (16-1-0) built a 3-0 lead after two periods on power-play goals by Ben Curtis and Tyler Smith and an even-strength goal by Gavin Uhlenkamp.

No. 10-2A White Bear Lake (13-3-0) opened the third period with a goal by Nolan Roed 10 seconds into the session. The Bears made it 3-2 when Jack Stanius scored with 2:10 remaining.

Caden Lee recorded an empty-net goal for the Storm with 20 seconds left.

Warroad 5, Roseau 2

ROSEAU - Jayson Shaugabay scored twice as Warroad remained unbeaten with a 5-2 win over Roseau at Roseau Memorial Arena.

Shaugabay, who scored his 100th career goal Saturday, gave No. 1-1A Warroad (17-0-0) the lead by scoring 2:13 into the contest. The Warriors opened the game by scoring the first three goals.

Shaugabay also was credited with an assist to give him 265 career points, good for 13th on the state's all-time list. Carson Pilgrim recorded a goal and three assists for the Warriors.

Roseau (10-7-1) got goals from Eli Wensloff and Tanner George.

Cambridge-Isanti 5, Princeton 2

ISANTI - A four-goal second period allowed Cambridge-Isanti to record a 5-2 win over Princeton and win the Rusty Skates Trophy at Isanti Ice Arena.

Princeton (8-9-0) led 1-0 after the first on a goal by Alexander Miller.

Seth Splittstoser scored for Cambridge-Isanti (9-7-0) 4:20 into the second. Wyatt Nutt scored 47 seconds later to give the Bluejackets a 2-1 lead.

Princeton's Timothy Donnay evened the score with 6:42 left in the second but Seth Terhell's short-handed goal gave Cambridge-Isanti a 3-2 lead with 2:55 remaining in the period. Finn Overby scored with one second left in the second to give the Bluejackets a 4-2 lead heading into the third.

Overby netted his second goal 29 seconds into the third period.

Sauk Rapids-Rice 5, Fergus Falls 3

FERGUS FALLS - Junior goaltender Zander Parker made 37 saves and Teagan Dodge scored three goals as Sauk-Rapids-Rice stunned Fergus Falls 5-3 at Fergus Falls Community Arena.

Shane Zierden scored with 42 seconds left in the second period and Brayden Nelson scored 3:04 into the third for No. 10-1A Fergus Falls (8-6-1) as it rallied from a 4-1 deficit to make it 4-3.

Dodge scored an empty net goal with 1:11 remaining. The goal was his team-leading 17th of the season. Luke Pakkala scored twice for the Storm (4-11-0).

Minneapolis 3, Holy Angels 0

RICHFIELD - Mike Shroat stopped 23 shots for his fifth shutout this season as Minneapolis defeated Holy Angels 3-0 at Richfield Ice Arena.

The victory was the sixth straight for Minneapolis (10-6-1) got goals from Joel Hanson, John Bebler and Cody Keller. Five of Minneapolis' last six wins have been by shutout.

Luke Marsalek made 24 saves for Holy Angels (10-5-1).

St. Cloud Cathedral 7, Northern Lakes 1

ST. CLOUD - Joey Gillespie and John Hirschfeld each scored two goals as St. Cloud Cathedral defeated Northern Lakes 7-1 at the Municipal Athletic Complex.

No. 14-1A St. Cloud Cathedral (9-7-0) led 2-0 when Ben Petroske scored seconds after a Northern Lakes (5-10-0) penalty expired.

Northern Lakes' Jerome Martin scored with 3:46 left in the first, but Cathedral pushed the lead to 4-1 after goals by Hirschfeld and Landon Swanson in the the second.

Hirschfeld and Gillespie each scored in the third for the final margin. Gillespie added two assists.

LaCrosse Aquinas/Holmen (Wis.) 5, La Crescent-Hokah 4 (OT)

ONALASKA, Wis. - Jack Barth scored with 1:51 left in overtime as  La Crosse Aquinas/Holmen (Wis.) defeated La Crescent-Hokah 5-4 at Onalaska Omni Center.

La Crosse Aquinas/Holmen (11-7-0) led 4-1 early in the second period.

Wyatt Farrell scored his 36th goal of the season in the second for La Crescent-Hokah (12-4-0), which then trailed 4-2. Farrell, a junior forward, ranks second in the state in goals.

The Lancers got goals from Alex Von Are and Cooper Carlson to open the third and force overtime.
