Hockey Night: Denfeld offense overpowers Little Falls

Jan. 13: Andy Larson's five-point night propels Hunters past Flyers; Quick-strike goals carry Rock Ridge to victory; New Prague beats St. Louis Park in OT

Duluth Denfeld 7, Little Falls 5

LITTLE FALLS - Andy Larson and Kaden Postal each scored two goals to lead Duluth Denfeld to a 7-5 win over Little Falls on Friday night in a matchup of top-20 small-school teams at Exchange Arena.

Larson added three assists while Postal recorded two assists for No. 11-1A Duluth Denfeld (9-5-1). Larson leads the Hunters with 40 points.

Hudson Fillippi scored twice for No. 16-1A Little Falls (6-7-1). The Flyers' Colton Johnson had a goal and two assists while Carter Oothoudt added two assists.

Rock Ridge 8, Providence Academy 2

MOUND - Twice in the first period Rock Ridge scored goals in a span of 22 seconds or less as the Wolverines recorded an 8-2 win over Providence Academy at Thaler Sports Center.

Zac Norberg scored with 8:50 and 8:42 remaining in the first to break a 1-1 tie and give No. 15-1A Rock Ridge (8-4-1) a 3-1 lead.

With 1:58 remaining in the opening period Brant Tiedeman scored and Ryan Manninen scored 22 seconds later to give the Wolverines a 5-1 lead.

Tiedeman later added another goal and an assist. Cooper Levander and Manninen each has a goal and an assist.

Andrew Owen and Jesse Varner scored for No. 11-1A Providence Academy (7-7-0).

The Wolverines will play Mount Westonka on Saturday to complete their road trip.

Edina 4, St. Thomas Academy 1

EDINA - Robbie Clarkowski made 29 saves as Edina defeated St. Thomas Academy 4-1at Braemar Arena.

No. 5-2A Edina (9-3-1) got goals from four players in the win. Mason West and Bobby Cowan scored in the first period for the Hornets while Ryan Flaherty and Grant Olson scored in the second and third periods, respectively.

Max Candon scored in the second period for No. 11-2A St. Thomas Academy (10-5-0), which got 28 saves from Tyler Magozzi.

Sauk Rapids-Rice 3, Mora/Milaca 2

MORA - Teagan Dodge's shorthanded goal with 3:21 remaining lifted Sauk Rapids-Rice to a 3-2 win over Mora/Milaca at Mora Civic Center.

Dodge added two assists for Sauk Rapids-Rice (3-10-0), which also had Ethan Euteneur record two assists.

Mora/Milaca (4-6-1) tied the game at 2-2 when Cameron Price scored with 6:55 to play.

New Prague 5, St. Louis Park 4 (OT)

NEW PRAGUE - New Prague's Eric Berg scored 1:12 into overtime to give the Trojans a 5-4 win over St. Louis Park at the New Prague Community Center.

The teams traded goals for the first two periods before a scoreless third period set the stage for Berg's goal.

John Schmidt recorded two goals and two assists for New Prague (8-4-0). Will Seymour and Michael Beckius each had a goal and an assist.

Miles Rider led St. Louis Park (5-8-1) with a goal and an assist.
