LONG LAKE - Senior forward Avery Anderson scored with 1:51 remaining in the third period to lead Orono past Gentry Academy 3-2 on Friday at Orono Ice Arena.
Avery, speeding into the Gentry Academy zone, took a pass from Bradley Walker and directed the puck at the net just as a Stars defender arrived in the crease. Anderson's shot appeared to deflect off the Stars' player and into the net.
No. 4-1A Orono (10-1-0) built a 2-0 lead on a power-play goal by Anderson in the first period and a goal by Easton Sankey in the second.
Gentry Academy (8-4-0) got on the scoreboard with Reese Shaw's power-play goal with 4:10 left in the second. The Stars tied it with Ryder Betzold's goal 13 seconds later.
Bradley Walker had two assists for the Spartans, who got 36 saves by Brock Peyton.
Anderson's two goals give him eight for the season. He has a team-best 22 points.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - A four-goal first period powered Grand Forks Red River (N.D.) to a 6-3 win over Holy Family at Eagles Arena.
Grand Forks Red River (10-1-0), the top-ranked team in the North Dakota coaches poll, scored twice in 16 seconds late in the first period to take a 4-1 lead. The Roughriders, who have won eight-straight games, scored the game's first two goals.
No. 20-2A Holy Family (8-4-0) got a power-play goal from Mason Grinnell in the first. Drew Roelofs and Parker Osborn scored in the second for the Fire.

WARROAD - Jason Shaugabay scored two goals and assisted on two others as Warroad remained unbeaten with a 5-0 win over Detroit Lakes in a matchup of ranked teams at The Gardens Arena.
Warroad and Hermantown are the state's lone unbeaten teams. They meet Jan. 14 in Warroad.
Shaugabay scored on the power play and then assisted on Ryan Lund's power-play goal to No. 2-1A Warroad (10-0-0) a 2-0 lead in the second.
Shaugabay then assisted on Carson Pilgrim's goal before recording his second goal with 2:55 left to play. In between, Gaabi Boucha scored for the Warriors. Shaugabay needs one point to tie T.J. Oshie for the all-time scoring record (241) at Warroad.
No. 10-1A Detroit Lakes (9-3-1) was limited to 10 shots on goal. Hampton Slukynsky recorded his fourth shutout of the season.

THIEF RIVER FALLS - Senior goaltender Ben Swanson made 34 saves and junior forward Kellen Stenstrom scored twice as Fergus Falls beat Thief River Falls 4-2 at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
Stenstrom's first goal gave No. 8-1A Fergus Falls (6-2-1) a 3-2 lead with 13:58 remaining in the second period. He added his second goal, his team-leading 10th of the season, midway through the third to make it 4-2.
No. 15-1A Thief River Falls (4-8-1) got two goals from senior forward Tyson Loeffler in the first period. The Prowlers outshot Fergus Falls 36-25.

BRAINERD - Senior forward Patrick Dunaiski's power-play goal with 9:42 left in the third period gave Cloquet/Esko/Carlton a 2-1 win over Brainerd at the Essentia Health Sports Center.
Dayne Painovich put Cloquet/Esko/Carlton (7-2-0) on the scoreboard with 3:29 left in the first. Brainerd tied it at 1-1 17 seconds later on John Finnegan's goal.
Brody Lund stopped 32 shots for Brainerd (5-4-0). Cloquet's Logan Sickmann made 16 stops.

VIRGINIA - Junior forward Kasey Lamppa scored a goal and added two assists as Rock Ridge survived a late Minneapolis rally to win 5-3 at Iron Trail Motors Event Center.
Lamppa scored a first-period goal for the Wolverines (6-4-1) as they took a 2-0 lead. Lamppa added an assist in the second as Rock Ridge pulled in front 4-1 on goals from Ethan Jacobson and Dylan Hedley.
John Bebler led the comeback for Minneapolis (4-6-1), scoring twice in the third period to make the score 4-3. Sam Troutwine added an insurance goal for Rock Ridge with 3:19 remaining.

WADENA - Wadena-Deer Creek built a four-goal lead then hung on for a 6-5 win over Lake of the Woods at Wadena Ice Arena.
Wadena-Deer Creek (8-3-0) got goals from six players as the Wolverines led 6-2 following Dalton Moyer's goal with 10:12 left.
However, Lake of the Woods (1-7-0) got two goals from Charlie Eck and one from Wyatt Brown as the Bears made it 6-5 with 4:30 remaining. Jordan Kvernen also scored two goals for the Bears.
Jayce Lucek made 40 saves for Lake of the Woods.
