Hockey Night: Chanhassen shuts out Lakeville South

Dec. 28: Storm win their ninth straight; Rogers, Eden Prairie tie 1-1; Gentry Academy surprises Holy Family; Princeton wins Herb Brooks tourney title

Chanhassen 3, Lakeville South 0

ST. LOUIS PARK - Caden Lee scored twice as Chanhassen recorded a 3-0 win over Lakeville South in the second round of the Premiere Holiday Classic in the Park at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.

Lee scored in the first and third periods for No. 6-2A Chanhassen (9-1-0), which outshot the Cougars 50-27.

Jack Christ scored his team-leading ninth goal in the second period for the Storm.

Kam Hendrickson made 27 saves for Chanhassen, which has won nine straight since a season-opening loss to Andover.

Jack Hochsprung made 45 saves for No. 4-2A Lakeville South (5-2-0).

Edina 5, St. Thomas Academy 1

PRIOR LAKE - Jackson Nevers scored twice - giving him six goals in his last three games - as Edina recorded a 5-1 win over St. Thomas Academy in the second round of the Tradition Holiday Invitational at Dakotah! Ice Center.

Ryan Flaherty assisted on three goals and scored one for No. 7-2A Edina (6-3-0), which scored three of its goals in the third period as it extended its win streak to six games.

Zach Howard scored in the second period for No. 9-2A St. Thomas Academy (8-2-0).

Robbie Clarkowski made 17 saves for the Hornets. Cody Niesen had 18 saves for St. Thomas Academy.

Rogers 1, Eden Prairie 1 (OT)

PRIOR LAKE - After going scoreless for more than 49 minutes, Rogers and Eden Prairie each scored late as the teams skated to a 1-1 overtime tie in the second round of the Tradition Holiday Invitational at Dakotah! Ice Center.

Freshman Mason Moe scored with 1:53 remaining in regulation to give No. 17-2A Eden Prairie (4-5-1) a short-lived lead.

Rogers junior Drew Krekelberg scored with 51 seconds left in the third to force overtime.

It was the second straight tie for No. 3-2A Rogers (6-1-2), which opened the tournament Tuesday with a 1-1 tie against Eden Prairie. 

Isaiah Paulnock made 36 saves for the Eagles while Cade Chapman stopped 28 shots for Rogers.

Minnetonka 4, Grand Rapids 1

GRAND RAPIDS - Liam Hupka and Alex Lunski scored 22 seconds apart in the first period as Minnetonka recorded a 4-1 win over Grand Rapids at the IRA Civic Center.

Lunski added an assist for No. 1-2A Minnetonka (8-1-0), which recorded 46 shots on goal. Danny Pasqua and Ashton Schultz added third-period goals for the Skippers.

Will Stauffer scored in the second period for No. 18-2A Grand Rapids (8-4-0).

Gentry Academy 5, Holy Family 4

MAPLE GROVE - Max von Klinggraeff scored with 2:18 remaining in the third period to give Gentry Academy a 5-4 win over Holy Family in the second round of the Premiere Holiday Classic in the Grove at Maple Grove Community Center.

Von Kinggraeff gave Gentry Academy (7-2-0) a 1-0 lead by scoring 87 seconds into the contest and Reese Shaw made it 2-0 just more than 2 minutes later.

No. 20-2A Holy Family (7-3-0) tied the game on at 2-2 goals by Hunter Friedrich and Parker Osborn. Gentry Academy's Ryan Betzold and Osborn traded goals as the first period ended in a 3-3 tie.

Gentry Academy's Brendon Hammer and Holy Family's Mason Grinnell traded third-period goals, setting the stage for von Klinggraeff's game-winner.

Princeton 4, Simley 1

ST. PAUL - Senior forward Timothy Donnay scored twice and James Koecher made 19 saves to lead Princeton to a 4-1 win over Simley in the championship game of the Herb Brooks Holiday Classic - Silver Division at TRIA Rink.

Princeton (5-4-0) also got goals from Jacob Patnode and Levi Nelson.

Koecher, a senior, stopped 77 of 79 in the tournament's three games. 

Caden Renslow scored in the third period for Simley (3-6-1).

Warroad 9, Providence Academy 1

WARROAD - Senior forward Jayson Shaugabay scored three goals and junior defenseman Ryan Lund had two goals and two assists as Warroad remained unbeaten with a 9-1 win over Providence Academy in the first round of the Hockeytown Holiday Classic at The Gardens Arena.

No. 2-1A Warroad (7-0-0) scored nine-straight goals to open the contest.

Carson Pilgrim was credited with a goal and two assists for the Warriors. Taven James picked added a goal and an assist while Murray Marvin-Cordes assisted on two goals.

Brandon Sattler scored for No. 9-1A Providence Academy (5-4-0).

Hampton Slukynsky made 23 saves for the Warriors.

Andover 5, Hill-Murray 2

ST. LOUIS PARK - Senior forward Gavyn Thoreson scored twice and had two assists for Andover, which scored the final three goals en route to a 5-2 victory over Hill-Murray in the second round d of the Premiere Holiday Classic in the Park at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.

The goals give Thoreson six in his last two games and 12 on the season. Thoreson, a St. Cloud State commit, opened the scoring in the first period and put the No. 10-2A Huskies (6-4-1) ahead 4-2 early in the third. 

Andover's Cayden Casey scored into an empty net with 52 second remaining.

Seth Klepac and Cullen Ingebritson scored for No. 12-2A Hill-Murray (3-5-0), which pulled into a 2-2 tie early in the second period on Ingebritson's goal.
