BLAINE - Senior forward Caleb Bendell was the only player to score in a shootout as Southwest Christian/Richfield, for tournament advancement purposes, beat Marshall on Monday at the Super Rink in a quarterfinal matchup in the Herb Brooks Holiday Classic - Silver Division.
The game, officially scored as a 3-3 overtime tie, was filled with more twists and turns than a plate of linguini. Marshall (2-5-1) led 3-1 late and appeared to have the victory clinched, but Paul Hornor and Kael Lundquist scored for the Stars (4-2-1) in the final 3:56. Lundquist's goal came with 14 seconds remaining.
Parker Schmitt put the Tigers ahead 3-1 less than 5 minutes into the third period.
Marshall's Ezra Maurice and Southwest Christian/Richfield's Jannes Kamp combined to stop the first five attempts in the shootout. Bendell, the Stars' top scorer with 10 points, ended it with a deke and backhand flip into a mostly empty net.

BLAINE - George Peltier and Sebastian Hoiland each scored twice as St. Paul Academy used a strong third period to pull away from Pine City for a 7-4 win in a Herb Brooks Holiday Classic - Silver Division quarterfinal at the Super Rink.
Gavin Broz scored to pull Pine City (3-3-0) into a 4-4 tie midway through the third period. St. Paul Academy (3-4-0) responded with three unanswered goals, including one each from Peltier and Hoiland.

BLAINE - Maverick Knoke and Ozzie Snodgrass scored third-period goals and Griffin Simpson made 31 saves to help Minneapolis beat Roseville 4-1 in a Herb Brooks Holiday Classic - Gold Division first round matchup at the Super Rink.
Roseville (6-3-0) pulled to within 2-1 on Landon Steffen's goal midway through the second period. Knoke scored midway through the third to put Minneapolis (2-4-1) ahead 3-1 and Snodgrass added a goal with 2:11 left.

BLAINE - Senior defenseman Jack Bartfield had two goals and an assist to lead Holy Angels past Breck 8-2 in a Herb Brooks Holiday Classic - Gold Division first-round game at the Super Rink.
Holy Angels (5-2-0) led 3-1 after the first and scored four unanswered goals in the second, including two from senior forward Charlie Cline.
Garrett Trench and Luke Kern scored for Breck (3-5-0).
