Quick Recap

ROSEVILLE - Ben Dardis stopped 29 shots as No. 1 seed and No. 4-1A state-ranked Mahtomedi defeated No. 3 seed and No. 11-1A state-ranked Chisago Lakes 4-0 in Friday's Section 4A championship at the Roseville Ice Arena.

The Zephyrs advance to their second state tournament berth in three seasons.

Dardis, one of three finalists for the Frank Brimsek Award that goes to the state's top senior goaltender, blanked each opponent in the section tourney. The shutout was the 21th of his career.

Mahtomedi (16-11-1) got two first-period goals by David Wolsfeld for a quick lead.

On the first one, Wolsfeld skated to the left post after a coming on during a line change and took a cross-ice pass from Charlie Drage and shot the puck into a wide-open net. Wolsfeld's second goal came on the power play.

The man advantage gave the Zephyrs a 3-0 lead when Cav Bruner scored with 11:23 left in the second. Fourteen seconds later Patrick Egan made it 4-0.

Jack Hanson stopped 32 shots for Chisago Lakes (21-6-1).
