Quick Recap

Carter Krenke scored twice in the second period Thursday as No. 5 seed Blake scored three unanswered goals on its way to a 5-1 triumph over No. 4 seed Holy Angels in a Section 6AA quarterfinal at Richfield Ice Arena.

Krenke, a 6-foot-6 junior, scored his goals 1:53 apart, all from the same area to the left of Holy Angels goaltender Bryce Hess as the Bears (17-9-0) built a 3-0 lead. Krenke’s first goal came on a power play.

Freshman defenseman Carson Clark added a power-play goal with 3:33 left in the second to put Blake ahead 4-0. No. 20-2A Holy Angels (21-4-1) answered with a power-play goal from Nick Johnson with 2:03 left in the second to make it 4-1.

Blake’s Senior forward William Matzke used his speed to wheel around a Holy Angels defenseman then froze Hess with a deke before scoring the lone goal of the first period.

Blake’s Eli Daniel scored the lone goal of the third period to complete the scoring.

Hess finished with 37 saves. Blake’s Jonah Spaeth had 21.

Blake advances to play No. 1 seed Benilde-St. Margaret’s in a section semifinal on Saturday at Bloomington Ice Garden.
