Hockey Night: Weigel makes 27 saves as Moorhead shuts out Roseau

Feb. 15: Max Plante's OT goal lifts Hermantown past Grand Rapids; Rogers tops Centennial; Mora/Milaca outlasts rival Pine City

Moorhead 4, Roseau 0

ROSEAU - Kai Weigel stopped 27 shots as No. 8-2A Moorhead blanked No. 7-2A Roseau 4-0 on Tuesday in a showdown between Section 8AA rivals at Roseau Memorial Arena.

Aaron Reierson had a goal and two assists for the Spuds. Reierson's goal started a three-goal stretch in 6:21 for Moorhead (18-5-1). Gavin Lindberg and Joe Koran also netted goals in that run as the Spuds took a 3-0 lead after one.

Carson Triggs recorded an empty-net goal with one second remaining for the final score.

Roseau (19-4-1) won the teams' previous meeting this season.

Hermantown 3, Grand Rapids 2 (OT)

GRAND RAPIDS - Max Plante scored with 48 seconds remaining in overtime to give No. 1-1A Hermantown a 3-2 win over No. 4-2A Grand Rapids at the IRA Civic Center, clinching the Lake Superior Conference championship for the Hawks.

Grand Rapids (18-6-1) built a 2-0 lead on goals by Ren Morque and Hayden DeMars before Hermantown (23-2-0) got on the scoreboard when Beau Janzig scored with 10 seconds remaining in the second period.

Janzig scored his second goal of the game with 64 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.

Rogers 3, Centennial 1

CIRCLE PINES - Cade Chapman stopped 26 shots as No. 13-2A Rogers beat No. 12-2A Centennial 3-1 at the Centennial Sports Arena.

The Royals (17-7-1) and Cougars (16-5-3) traded power-play goals in the first as Sam Ranallo and Peyton Blair scored for their respective teams.

Trent Peluf gave Rogers a 2-1 lead with 1:45 left in the second period before Matt Lomen's goal with 12 seconds remaining in the third period clinched it.

White Bear Lake 4, Champlin Park 2

VADNAIS HEIGHTS - Tyler Bishop scored twice as White Bear Lake defeated Champlin Park 4-2 at TCO Sports Garden.

Bishop's short-handed goal got the Bears (14-8-0) started and Tyler Kotzmacher netted a power-play goal for a 2-0 lead. Matthew Blodgett scored twice for Champlin Park (14-8-1) to tie the game at 2-2 after two periods.

Charles Olsen scored on a White Bear Lake power play six seconds into the third period before Bishop's second goal midway in the third pushed the lead to two.

Jackson Kohnen stopped 38 of 40 shots for the win.

Little Falls 5, St. Cloud Cathedral 2

LITTLE FALLS - Hayden Johnson scored twice as Little Falls rallied for a 5-2 win over St. Cloud Cathedral at Exchange Arena.

After Matthew Cooper gave the Flyers (20-4-0) a 1-0 lead, St. Cloud Cathedral (11-12-0) took a 2-1 lead on goals by Brandon Hemmer and Joey Gillespie.

Johnson's first goal tied the game in the second. Joey Welinski gave Little Falls a 3-2 lead five minutes into the third. Johnson then scored a short-handed goal to make it 4-2. George Moore added a power-play goal.

Benilde-St. Margaret's 6, Chanhassen 2

ST. LOUIS PARK - Tristan Sarsland and Mitchell Dokman each scored twice to lead No. 6-2A Benilde-St. Margaret's to a 6-2 win over Chanhassen at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.

Sarsland and Ben Norris scored in the first period for the Red Knights (18-5-0), who rebounded after losing to Chaska in overtime Saturday. Dokman gave BSM a 3-1 lead after two periods.

Sarsland opened the scoring in the third before Chanhassen's Gavin Uhlenkamp netted his second goal of the night to bring the Storm (18-5-1) within two, at 4-2, just 3:33 into the period.

Dokman scored midway through the third period and Gino Gatti added a goal with 90 seconds remaining.

Mora/Milaca 6, Pine City 5

MORA - Jack Kritzeck scored two short-handed goals in the third period as Mora/Milaca registered a 6-5 win over Pine City at the Mora Civic Center.

Parker Mitchell, the state's leading goal scorer, scored three goals and added an assist for the Mustangs (18-5-2).

The teams traded goals in both the first and second periods before Kritzeck scored twice in 2:32 for a 5-3 lead.

Pine City's Andrew Thole made it 5-4 before Mitchell's third goal midway through the third pushed the lead to two. Pine City's Landon Martfeld scored with 3:24 to play but the Dragons (8-17-0) could not tie it.
