Hockey Night: DelGreco boosts Grand Rapids past Wayzata

Feb. 5: Berg's hat trick helps Alexandria knock off Duluth Denfeld; Cretin-Derham Hall slips past Eden Prairie

Grand Rapids 5, Wayzata 3

GRAND RAPIDS - Joey DelGreco scored two goals and added an assist as No. 11-2A Grand Rapids upended No. 8-2A Wayzata 5-3 on Saturday at the IRA Civic Center.

After a scoreless first period, Wayzata (13-7-1) opened the scoring with a goal by Drew Streeter 81 seconds into the second. The Thunderhawks (16-5-1) tied the game with DelGreco's first goal.

Kaden Nelson, who also recorded three assists, gave Grand Rapids the lead with a goal with 9:55 to play in the second.

Wayzata's Luke Miller tied the game with 6:39 left in the second but Grand Rapids retook the lead on Hayden DeMars' power-play goal 5 minutes later.

Easton Young's goal with 13:56 left in regulation pushed the Hawks' lead to 4-2. However, Streeter's second goal brought Wayzata within one at 4-3 with 1:50 to play.

DelGreco's empty-net goal with 45 seconds left iced it.

Alexandria 6, Duluth Denfeld 4

DULUTH - No. 11-1A Alexandria scored three goals in the second period to take a four-goal lead en route to a 6-4 win over No. 7-1A Duluth Denfeld at the Heritage Sports Center.

Alexandria (12-6-1) got three goals from Brycen Berg, who has 20 goals this season.

The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead on goals by Mason Stennes and Berg in the first period but the Hunters (15-8-0) trailed by one on Simon Davidson's power-play goal with 6:30 left in the first.

Josiah Gronholz started Alexandria's three-goal run in the second with 10:13 left. Berg scored 50 seconds later and Joe Lamski's power-play goal with 1:35 left in the period gave the Cardinals a 5-1 lead.

Davidson scored his second goal with 15:09 left and then Andy Larson brought the Hunters within two at 5-3 with 9:18 remaining. Berg completed his hat trick with 5:53 left before Connor McClure scored with six seconds left for the final.

Andover 4, Centennial 1

ANDOVER - Cayden Casey had two goals and an assist as No. 1-2A Andover completed its regular-season sweep of No. 12-2A Centennial with a 4-1 victory at the Andover Community Center.

the Huskies, now 18-3-1.

Logan Gravink and Kyle Law gave Andover (18-3-1) a 2-0 lead in the first and Casey's first goal pushed the lead to 3-0 in the secone.

After Matt Everson scored for Centennial (15-4-1) with 1:22 to play, Casey scored an empty-net goal with 49 seconds remaining.

Austin Brauns stopped 32 of 33 shots for the win.

Cretin-Derham Hall 1, Eden Prairie 0

ST. PAUL - Marko Belak made 26 saves and Jake Sondreal scored with 4:56 left in the first period as Cretin Derham-Hall recorded a 1-0 win over Eden Prairie at Highland Arena.

The shutout was Belak's first of the season as the Raiders improved to 18-3-0.

Sam Schowalter stopped 33 of 34 shots for Eden Prairie (12-9-0).

Prior Lake 7, Lakeville North 2

LAKEVILLE - Alex Bump and Will Schumacher each scored twice as Prior Lake improved to with a 7-2 win over Lakeville North at Ames Arena.

The Lakers (13-9-0) recorded a win over a team they lost to earlier in the season for the third consecutive game.

Bump, who now holds the Prior Lake single-season point record with 54, got the Lakers on the board with his 27th goal of the season. Sam Rice then made it 2-0 with his fifth goal in five games.

Lakeville North answered but Parker Boyce pushed the Lakers' lead to 3-1. Will Schumacher scored back-to-back goals for a 5-1 lead before Lakeville  Nother scored on the power play to make it 5-2.

Justin Kingery pushed the lead to 6-2 before Bump scored to complete the scoring.

International Falls 3, Kittson County Central 2 (OT)

HALLOCK - Cody Joslyn scored with 40 seconds left in overtime to lift International Falls to a 3-2 win over Kittson County Central at the Hallock Ice Arena.

The goal was Joslyn's second of the season for the Broncos (5-13-0).

International Falls trailed 2-1 when Matt Wherley's power-play goal with 46 seconds left in regulation forced the extra period.

Wherley opened the scoring with a goal at 12:47 in the first. Kittson County Centreal (5-13-1) tied the game in the second on Izyk Strege's goal and the Bearcats took a 2-1 lead on Tyler Hennen's power-play goal with 15:32 to play.

Warroad 5, Grand Forks Central (N.D.) 2

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Jayson Shaugabay scored two goals as Warroad registered a 5-2 win over Grand Forks Central at Purpur Arena.

Grand Forks Central (10-8-0) entered the game ranked No. 2 in North Dakoa in the state coaches' poll conducted by ndhighschoolhockey.com.

Warroad (18-3-1) scored two goals in the final 1:13 of the first period for a 2-0 lead. Murray Marvin-Cordes and Carson Reed lit the lamp for the Warriors.

The Knights answered with Colton Borge's goal with 3:58 left in the second. Shaugabay then scored with 15:56 remaining for a 4-1 lead. Borge scored midway in the second before Shaugabay closed the scoring with an empty-net goal, his 19th overall and sixth in the last four games, with 1:08 remaining.

Maple Grove 5, Stillwater 3

MAPLE GROVE - Danny Nelson scored three goals as No. 7-2A Maple Grove rallied from a three-goal deficit to record a 5-3 win over No. 16-2A Stillwater at the Maple Grove Community Center.

Stillwater (15-6-1) got a first-period goal from Ethan Mosley and second-period goals by Cam Briere and Carter Bies for a 3-0 lead with 8:36 left. Joshua Giuliani got the Crimson on the board with 8:04 remaining in the second.

Nelson, a sophomore, then scored two goals for a 3-3 tie after two periods.

Maple Grove (16-5-0) took the lead on Landen Gunderson's goal with 4:17 to play. Nelson completed a hat trick by scoring with 23 seconds remaining.
