Hockey Night: Roseau outlasts Warroad

Jan. 25: Rams salvage split of season series; Finn Jacques stars in goal for Lakeville North; Albert Lea shuts down La Crescent scoring whiz Wyatt Farrell

Roseau 4, Warroad 3

WARROAD - Gavin Jensen and Gavin Gunderson scored third-period goals as No. 5-2A Roseau beat rival No. 2-1A Warroad 4-3 on Tuesday night at The Gardens.

Gunderson's goal came with 2:44 remaining and the score tied at 3-3. 

Roseau (14-3-0) led 2-1 after the first on goals by Noah Urness and Adam Severson. Matt Hard scored for Warroad (16-3-0).

Warroad's Jayson Shaugabay scored the only goal of the second period. Daimon Gardner scored in the third for the Warriors. Both Shaugabay and Gardner scored shorthanded.

Warroad won the first meeting between the teams 5-0 in Roseau on Jan. 25.

Lakeville North 3, Rosemount 0

ROSEMOUNT - Lakeville North senior goaltender Finn Jacques continued his outstanding play by making 37 saves as the No. 14-2A Panthers beat No. 19-2A Rosemount 3-0 at Rosemount Ice Arena.

The shutout was the third of the season for Jacques, who has a 2.23 goals-against average.

Luke Poehling and Kyle Doll scored first-period goals and Griffin Kranz scored in the second for Lakeville North (13-3-0).

Will Pasch made 26 saves for Rosemount (9-6-1)

Albert Lea 4, La Crescent-Hokah 1

ALBERT LEA - Dakota Jahnke stopped 20 shots as No. 20-1A Albert Lea beat La Crescent-Hokah 4-1 at Albert Lea City Arena.

Jahnke and the Tigers (13-3-0) held La Crescent-Hokah (7-6-2) star Wyatt Farrell to one assist, marking just the second time all season he has been held without a goal. Farrell has 30 goals this season.

Spencer VanBeek scored in the first, Jared Turrubiartes added a goal in the second and Joseph Yoon and Tim Chalmers scored the only goals in the third for Albert Lea.  

Jahnke entered the night ranked in the top eight in the state in both goals-against average and save percentage.

Northfield 4, Mankato East 3 (OT)

NORTHFiELD - Sophomore Kamden Kaiser scored 2:17 into overtime to lift No. 17-1A Northfield to a 4-3 victory over No. 16-1A Northfield at Northfield Ice Arena.

The goal was the second of the night and 17th of the season for Kaiser.

Brayden Brakke scored his first goal of the season and Luke Johnson his second for the Raiders (10-4-1).

Mankato East (11-6-0) tied it at 4-4 with 5:44 remaining in regulation on a goal by Aiden Prochaska.

Hermantown 6, East Grand Forks 2

HERMANTOWN - Sophomore Max Plante scored twice and older brother Zam, a junior, had three assists as No. 1-1A Hermantown cruised to a 6-2 victory over No. 12-1A East Grand Forks at the Hermantown Hockey Arena.

Hermantown (16-1-0) led 5-0 late in the second before East Grand Forks (5-11-0) got on the scoreboard late in the period.

Brock Schultz and Jaksen Panzer had the goals for the Greenwave.

Hermantown joined Warroad as having the second most victories in the state with 16. Little Falls leads the state with 17 victories.

Little Falls 4, Thief River Falls 3

LITTLE FALLS - Isaiah Jendro and Carter Oothoudt each has a goal and an assist as No. 4-1A Little Falls beat Thief River Falls 4-3 at Exchange Arena.

Jendro and Hayden Johnson scored in the first period as Little Falls (17-1-0) built a 2-0 lead. The Flyers led 4-1 midway through the second before the Prowlers (8-9-0) rallied on goals by Jace Erickson late in the second and and Tysen Loeffler early in the third.

Hutchinson 5, Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato 2

HUTCHINSON - Hutchinson (9-10-0) scored the first four goals, including two of KK Starrett, as it rolled to a 5-2 victory over longtime rival Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato (10-7-1).

Starrett completed his hat trick and completed the scoring with 6:08 remaining. 

Brady KNorr added three assists for the Tigers.
