Hockey Night: Jake Sondreal makes triumphant return for Cretin-Derham Hall

Jan 6: Raiders ease past Edina; Centennial upsets Maple Grove; Eden Prairie outguns Prior Lake; Alexandria tops Fergus Falls

Cretin-Derham Hall 4, Edina 2

EDINA - Jake Sondreal scored 17 seconds into the game and then netted the game-winner on the power play to lift No. 2-2A Cretin-Derham Hall (9-3-0) to a 4-2 win over No. 5-2A Edina (8-4-0) on Thursday at Braemar Ice Arena.

The game was the first one back for Sondreal after missing several weeks with a shoulder injury.

After Sondreal's first goal, Edina's Trey Fechko tied the game with eight minutes left in the first.

Simon Houge gave the Raiders a 2-1 lead before Sondreal's second, which came after Edina was called for too many men on the ice.

Gabe Rasmussen made it 4-1 before Edina's Willy Johnson scored with 34 seconds left for the final score.

Centennial 6, Maple Grove 3

CIRCLE PINES - No. 15-2A Centennial (8-2-0) scored four-straight goals to down No. 8-2A Maple Grove (7-4-1) 6-3 at the Centennial Sports Arena and avenge a loss earlier this season.

Maple Grove won the first meeting 3-2 between the Northwest Suburban Conference members.

The Crimson scored first but Centennial got goals from Drake Ramirez, Peyton Blair, Brock Carl and Cade Anderson for a 4-1 lead.

Maple Grove stopped the streak with a power-play goal by Finn Brink. Chayton Fischer brought the Crimson within one, 4-3 but Owen Van Tassel pushed the lead to two at 5-3.

Eden Prairie 6, Prior Lake 4

EDEN PRAIRIE - Ryan Andor scored three goals to lift No. 13-2A Eden Prairie (7-5-0) to a 6-4 win over Prior Lake (4-7-0) at the Eden Prairie Community Center.

The contest is the lone scheduled meeting between two of the top contenders for the top seed in Section 2AA.

Andor scored 63 seconds into the game to give the Eagles, the defending state champions, a 1-0 lead.

Toran Dobchuk added to the Eagles' lead with a power-play goal from the point with 5:34 left in the first. The goal was Dobchuk's first on the varsity.

Prior Lake's Blake Dicke cut the lead to 2-1 with 1:22 left in the first.

Andor opened the scoring in the second at 15:32. Prior Lake's Levi Eiter made it a one-goal game before Eden Prairie's Tony Schulze made it 4-2.

The third period saw three goals in 31 seconds. Eiter started it by recording his second goal at with 10:11 to play. Twelve seconds later, Dicke tied the score but Andor completed his hat trick 19 seconds later. Teddy Townsend scored the Eagles' final goal.

Schulze added four assists while Townsend finished with three.

Eastview 5, Minnetonka 3

MINNETONKA - Eastview scored five unanswered goals - four of them on the power play - as it rallied past No. 14-2A Minnetonka 5-3 at the Pagel Activity Center.

The Lightning (8-2-0) trailed 2-0 when the Lightning's Jordan Brothers scored on a power play with 16 seconds left in the second.

Eastview's Jordan Larkee and Zach Wooten scored two more power-play goals in a span of 5 seconds early in the third period to put the Lightning ahead 3-2.

Wooten and John Kisch scored 19 seconds apart later in the third as Eastview took a 5-2 lead. The Lightning went 4-for-8 on the power play.

Minnetonka went a perfect 3-for-3 on power plays with Javon Moore, Teddy Manlove and John Stout notching the goals for the Skippers (6-5-1), who are winless in their last four games.

Alexandria 5, Fergus Falls 2

ALEXANDRIA - Alexandria scored the game's first four goals as the Cardinals (No. 9-1A) improved to 5-4-1 with the 5-2 win over Fergus Falls at the Runestone Community Center.

Nicholas Peterson, who finished with a hat trick, got the Cardinals started with a goal 3:09 into the game. Alexandria outshot No. 12-1A Fergus Falls (9-4-0) 15-3 in the first.

Pieter Mulder scored 3:11 into the second period before Peterson netted his second goal 28 seconds later. Tyler Kludt made it 4-0 before Michael DeBrito got the Otters on the scoreboard with 56 seconds left.

Peterson completed the hat trick with 5:34 left in the contest. Cole Zierden's power-play goal made it 5-2.

Orono 2, St. Cloud Cathedral 0

ST. CLOUD - Special teams lift No. 18-1A Orono (5-6-1) to a 2-0 win over No. 13-1A St. Cloud Cathedral (8-4-0) at the Municipal Athletic Complex.

Easton Sankey scored a power-play goal in the first period to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead.

Bradley Walker then scored a short-handed goal 1:46 into the second period for the 2-0 margin.

Brock Peyton made 28 saves for the shutout win.

Delano 2, Rosemount 1

ROSEMOUNT - Delano scored in the second period on its first shot on goal as the Tigers defeated Rosemount 2-1 at the Rosemount Ice Arena.

No. 18-2A Rosemount (5-5-0) got a goal by Owen Hendrickson with 38 seconds remaining in the first period to take a 1-0 lead. The Irish had a 9-0 shot advantage.

Jesse Peterson's wrist shot from the top of the circle tied the game for No. 6-1A Delano (8-3-0). Peterson's power-play goal came 3:31 into the period.

Gunnar Paulson, who assisted on Peterson's goal, made it 2-1 with 4:42 left in the second.

Delano's Drew Dorsey made 31 saves for the win.

East Ridge 4, Woodbury 1

COTTAGE GROVE - East Ridge (5-6-1) scored three goals in the first period and recorded a 4-1 win over Woodbury (7-5-0) in the Intracity rivalry game held at the Cottage Grove Ice Arena.

Woodbury outshot East Ridge, 39-24. East Ridge's Jack Hodgins made 38 saves.
