Junior forward Cayden Casey scored a highlight-reel goal with 2:41 left in overtime as Andover beat Hill-Murray 2-1 in a B.I.G. Tradition second-round game at the Bloomington Ice Garden.
Casey and Gavyn Thoreson sprung loose for a 2-on-1 at center ice on the winning play, and Thoreson whipped a pass to Casey at the blue line as they broke in on Hill-Murray standout goaltender Nick Erickson.
Casey looked to pass to Thoreson but instead made a toe-drag move at the side of the net on Erickson, eventually stuffing home the puck while standing behind the goal line.
It was a rare moment of freewheeling in an otherwise tight-checking game dominated by stifling defensive play.
Hill-Murray's Nate Hardy and Andover's Kyle Law traded first-period goals.
Erickson made 18 saves, including a couple of sprawling stops in the first period.
Andover's Austin Brauns allowed a goal on the first shot he faced but recovered to make 21 saves.
