Dec. 4: Rogers slips past Minnetonka in OT, Edina steamrolls White Bear Lake, John Marshall doubles last season's win total

Blaine 1, Maple Grove 1 OT

MAPLE GROVE - Blaine senior goaltender Ryan Wallin was superb in making 40 saves as the Bengals skated to a surprising 1-1 tie with Maple Grove on Saturday at the Maple Grove Community Center.

Maple Grove (2-1-1), which reached the state Class 2A semifinals last spring, entered the season as the state's No. 2 team in Legacy Hockey's Class 2A rankings.

Wallin and Maple Grove goaltender Toby Hopp were flawless through two periods, as all the scoring came in the third.

Finn Brink put Maple Grove ahead 1-0 just 3:26 into the final period when he took a feed from Nathan Jaglo, broke in alone on Wallin and made a quick deke to break the deadlock.

Blaine's Adam Pruder, a junior defenseman, tied the score at 1-1 when he scored with 4:41 remaining in regulation on a set faceoff play. Pruder drove to the net from his right point position and deflected home a feed from fellow defenseman Finn Loftus.

Blaine is off to a 1-1-1 start this season after going 10-10-0 and losing to Maple Grove by scores of 8-2 and 8-0 last season.
