Edina 7, St. Louis Park 1

ST. LOUIS PARK - Edina continues its scoring onslaught as the No. 10-2A Hornets scored four first-period goals on their way to a 7-1 win over St. Louis Park at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.

Edina entered the game as one of the state's top-scoring teams after recording 12 combined goals in wins over No. 2-2A Maple Grove and No. 8-2A Moorhead.

The Hornets took a 1-0 lead and then added a power-play goal for a 2-0 margin with 6:44 left in the first period. A 2-on-0 break gave Edina a 3-0 lead and the Hornets closed the period with a goal a 4-0 lead and they cruised to the win from there.

Last season St. Louis Park skated to a surprising 4-4 overtime tie with the Hornets, but the Orioles were unable to rekindle that magic in the teams' lone meeting this season.

After Elk River/Zimmerman’s Andrew Foss scored the Elks’ first goal, Ranallo answered 12 seconds later with his second tally of the night for the eventual game-winning goal 6:02 into the third.

The Elks’ Blaise Schutt scored with 2:23 remaining to cut the lead to 3-2.
