Goaltender makes 33 saves in victory

Despite being outshot 34-16, No. 4 Little Falls advanced to the Class A semifinals with a 2-1 win over No. 5 seed Delano Tuesday night at the Xcel Energy Center.

Senior goaltender Dane Couture stopped 33 of 34 shots and a pair of defensemen scored goals for Little Falls, now 14-4-1.

On the Flyers’ first shot of the game, Joe Majerle’s power-play goal nine minutes into the first period deflected off two Delano players and into the net. The goal was Majerle’s third of the season.

In the third period, George Moore’s wrist shot beat the Delano goaltender low on the stick side to give Moore his second goal in as many games and his third goal of the season. Gunnar Gustafson recorded his second assist on Moore’s goal, which came with 7:04 remaining.

Will Brown scored in the second period for Delano, 14-7-1.
