Gentry Academy’s Damon Furuseth recorded a hat trick as the No. 2 seeded Stars recorded an 8-0 win in a Class A quarterfinal Tuesday over Northern Lakes at the Xcel Energy Center.
Furuseth, a senior forward, scored a short-handed and even-strength goal in the first period before adding a power-play goal in the second period. He now has five game-winning goals this season for Gentry Academy (17-0).
Furuseth's first goal came shorthanded on a breakaway, beating Lightning goaltender Adler Hoagland with a deke and shot between his leg pads.
Furuseth then took advantage of a Northern Lakes turnover in the high slot on his second goal. Furuseth's shot found the upper right-hand corner for a 2-0 lead.
Also scoring in the second period for Gentry were Nick Sajevic, Kaden Miles and Connor Brown.
Sajevic, the Stars’ leading scorer, added a third-period goal as did Zach Reim.
Reim, Miles and Brown each added an assist while Wes Berg and Bailey McGraw each recorded two assists.
Northern Lakes falls to 18-4.
