Moorhead sophomore Kai Weigel made 31 saves, but his Spuds fell 2-1 in double overtime.

Three Stars

Gavyn Thoreson, Andover - The most dangerous Husky on Thursday, Thoreson was bruised and battered all game long. In the end, his persistence paid off. The junior forward sent a backhander off the crossbar and in 11:18 into the second overtime, sending Andover to the Class 2A semis.

Austin Brauns, Andover - Brauns played aggressive, edge-of-the-crease hockey all night, making save after save to give his Huskies a chance to win. He mixed in some flash, too, sprawling to get hands, arms, legs or feet on several of Moorhead’s 44 shots.

Kai Weigel, Moorhead - Just a sophomore, Weigel plays a mature style. His poise in the crease led to few rebounds, while his puck handling abilities out of it made it nearly impossible for Andover to generate any consistent forechecking pressure.
