ANDOVER vs. HILL-Murray

7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29
The B.I.G. Tradition, Second Round
Bloomington Ice Garden, Bloomington

Andover scores goals in bunches, semi-trailer loads of bunches. That’s been the high-flying Huskies’ trademark for the past several seasons.

Hill-Murray is notoriously stingy. The Pioneers allow goals as easily as grizzly relinquishes  a pot of fresh honey.

No. 4-2A Andover (7-1-1) has scored four or more goals in all but two of its games. No. 7-2A Hill-Murray (6-2-0) has allowed more than two goals twice.

The push-and-pull of this matchup of state tournament qualifiers each of the last two seasons should be fascinating and, more than likely, lean toward a low-scoring affair (the Huskies have three shutouts this season, one more than the Pioneers).

Juniors Gavyn Thoreson (23 points) and Cayden Casey (20 points) lead the Andover offense, while seniors Kyle Law (11 points) and Weston Knox (10 points) are the Huskies’ twin defensive pillars.

Senior Wisconsin commit Dylan Godbout leads the Pioneers with six goals and 11 points. Senior defenseman Axel Begley has a goal and eight assists for Hill-Murray, which is unbeaten in its last five. Senior Nick Erickson has allowed a combined two goals in his last three starts, stopping 103 of 105 shots in that span.
