Northern Lakes At Little Falls

7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 28
Little Falls Holiday Classic, First Round
Exchange Arena, Little Falls

The resume is impeccable. Mostly.

Little Falls, one of three remaining unbeaten teams, has scored 55 goals this season, third most in the state. The Flyers have scored four or more goals in all nine of their games and are led by junior Matt Filippi, the state’s second-leading goal scorer with 17.

Perfection hasn’t come easily for Little Falls, No. 5 in Class 1A in Legacy Hockey’s latest Power Rankings. Four of the Flyers victories have come by a single goal, including Tuesday’s 5-4 triumph over central lakes area neighbor Brainerd.

There’s potential for another tight finish on Tuesday as the Flyers host Northern Lakes in a matchup of teams that reached the state Class 1A tournament last season.

No. 11-1A Northern Lakes (4-2-0) has lost both of its previous meetings against top-ranked Class 1A schools, falling 4-1 to No. 8 Fergus Falls on Nov. 30 and losing 4-1 to No. 10 Detroit Lakes on Dec. 16.

The Lightning are coming off a 15-0 triumph over Breckenridge/Wahpeton in which senior Colton Craig scored four goals to bump his season total to a team-best six. Senior Jamison St. Clair had six points (2 goals, 4 assists) in the win over the Blades.

Which team will win?
