ELY vs. MORA/Milaca

2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11
Mora Civic Center, Mora

The Two Rivers Conference, which once stretched from Moose Lake to St. Paul and included the likes of Minneapolis, disbanded after the 2019-20 season when it was down to just four teams (Pine City, Mora/Milaca, St. Paul Highland Park and Moose Lake).

The Two Rivers’ two-year hiatus ended this fall when it was revived thanks in part to the inclusion of Wisconsin schools Ashland and WSFLG (a co-op of five western Wisconsin schools and a former conference member). Ely also has joined the mix for the first time and Moose Lake rejoined the group. Mora/Milaca (5-14-1), which helped spearhead the efforts to revive the conference, currently sits atop the five-team standings with eights points, tied with Ashland and two ahead of Ely.

Saturday’s game in Mora will help determine the conference champion, as it is worth four points (the teams only play once) in the standings. Junior defenseman Trenton Fore leads Mora/Milaca with 16 goals, while junior Drew Marolt is the top goal-scorer for Ely (8-15-0) with 23.
