New Ulm vs. Luverne

7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26
Blue Mound Ice Arena, Luverne

New Ulm upped its winning streak against Big South Conference opponents to 57 games on Monday with a 4-3 triumph over Windom. The last time the No. 19-1A Eagles (14-2-1) lost to a Big South foe was on Dec. 28, 2019, against Luverne.

Junior forward Bryer Lang scored twice for New Ulm in its 2-1 victory over Luverne on Dec. 9 — one of three one-goal wins for the Eagles in conference play. Junior Austin Uecker leads New Ulm with 19 goals. His 48 points rank tied for 11th in the state.

Luverne (9-5-1) will have the luxury of playing at home against the Eagles in Thursday’s rematch as the Cardinals begin a stretch in which they play seven of eight games at Blue Mound Ice Arena. Luverne has won five out of its last six games and is led by Patrick Kroski’s 36 points and Brock Behrend’s 22 goals.
