Edina vs. Minnetonka

7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 19
Pagel Activity Center, Minnetonka

Minnetonka doesn’t have a go-to scorer or top line in the traditional sense of the terms. No, the No. 2-2A Skippers (13-2-0) are content to grind teams into submission with their unequaled depth. Minnetonka has six players with 17 or more points and nine with double-digit points.

The scary part for Skippers’ opponents? Junior Javon Moore, a Minnesota commit and Minnetonka’s top scorer last season, sits seventh on the Skippers in points and only recently is really starting to heat up offensively. Junior Minnesota-Duluth commit John Stout (17 points) and senior Liam Hupka (11 points) form one of the state’s top defensive tandems. Senior goaltender Kaizer Nelson has a sparkling 1.16 goals-against average (third-best in the state).

No. 5-2A Edina (10-3-1) has allowed more than two goals in a single game just once this season, thanks in part to a defensive corps that includes Division I college commits Barrett Dexheimer (UMass) and Eddie Revenig (Bemidji State). Senior goaltender Robbie Clarkowski ranks fifth in the state with a .937 save percentage and sixth with a 1.48 goals-against average.

Which team will win?
Legacy pick: Minnetonka
