Two of the most active climbers in this week’s Class 1A rankings meet on Thursday, as No. 9-1A Delano (5-4-0) and No. 11 Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato (8-1-1).
Orono has the early stranglehold on the top seed on Section 2A, but both the Tigers and Dragons are part of a group of four or five additional teams expected to be in the section championship mix.
Delano beat No. 7-1A Hibbing/Chisholm 6-3 on Friday for its signature win of the season. Senior Will Brown, a four-year varsity mainstay, had two goals and two assists in the victory. Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato, which boasts one of the state’s best records, has two double-digit goal scorers in seniors Connor Taber (12) and Calvin Jones (10).
