Andover vs. Benilde-St. Margaret's

5 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 27
The Premiere Holiday Classic in the Park, First Round | St. Louis Park Rec Center, St. Louis Park

The line-change chess match that determines how often Andover’s Gavyn Thoreson and Benilde-St. Margaret’s Drew Stewart match up against each other on Tuesday in the teams’ first-round matchup in a holiday tourney in St. Louis Park should be fascinatng. Here’s hoping they see each other a lot.

The 5-foot-7, 153-pound Stewart and 5-8, 183-pound Thoreson in many ways cast mirror images in their ability to control play, see the ice and will their teams to victory.

Thoreson, a St. Cloud State commit, has six goals among his 10 points for the No. 10-2A Huskies (4-4-1). Stewart, committed to Notre Dame, leads the No. 11-2A Red Knights (4-3-0) in goals (7) and assists (14). This is a rematch from a Dec. 6 meeting in Andover. Benilde-St. Margaret’s won that one 3-0 behind a pair of Stewart goals and Mason McElroy’s 21 saves.

Which team will win?
