Chanhassen vs. Shakopee

4 p.m., Friday, Dec. 16
Shakopee Ice Arena, Shakopee

Chanhassen, fresh off the biggest week in program history (wins over arch rival Chaska and then-No. 1-ranked Minnetonka), takes on another tough Section 2AA foe Friday in Shakopee. Yes, it’s early, but the No. 7-2A Storm, who have never won a playoff game in 12 appearances, are on pace for the No. 1 seed in one of the state’s most loaded sections.

No. 19-2A Shakopee (2-1-0) has supersized aspirations of its own, and knocking off early season darling Chanhassen would rank among the program’s biggest wins in recent history. Senior Jackson Vogel (4 points) and sophomore Cooper Simpson (3 points) lead the offense. Junior Aleksi Huson has been spectacular in goal, stopping a combined 92 of 99 shots in three games. Junior Wisconsin commit Gavin Uhlenkamp, one of the state’s fastest players, has a team-best 10 points, and four other players have four or more goals for the balanced Storm.
